I think OSU actually picked up that fourth down, but they did it illegally and didn't get flagged.

NCAA Rule: "The ball carrier shall not grasp a teammate; and no other teammate shall grasp, pull, or lift the ball carrier to assist in forward progress. (A.R. 9-3-2-I)"

So there is justice there.

Thanks, I had thought that at the time. You can push but not pull like that lineman was doing. In a big scrum at the goal line it's hard to tell but that was just the big guy in clear view doing it.

It’s just what they do. Totally ignoring that OSU has the top defense in the conference and one of the best in college football.

Which means you don't run a shovel pass to the TE, something you've never done, on 4th and short.

Several plays were up to the players do make it happen, but in no way is that a practical call.

Won’t argue with that, but it doesn’t mean the entire game was called as a disaster as most are behaving.

There is something we have going on, it appears the staff wants us to be a power running team so badly that we will just bang that zone read or direct hand off up the middle over and over even when it doesn't work.

Seems like at halftime there was something of an adjustment, realizing that we need to spread the field more, and it worked. That crossing route catch by Milton feels like it's been missing all season.

Wish the adjustment could come sooner, but we won, so can't complain too much!

Milton play was just a basic RPO that we've run a ton in the past. Same play X scored on earlier in the game (the 1st time). I think the only reason Milton was in because X was hurt. Big play out of Tarique.

Like don't let the official see you smile before you cross the end zone.
And I think he 'smiled' at the 20, not the 5. So First down Cyclcones at the 35 instead of the 20. The upstart punks should know better.

Refs then huddle to find out best way to make next bad call.

Agree. There were some real gems in there including the flip out to Rus in the first half.

Would love to see more of that especially with so much keying on Hall.

Among various notes: Returning to top 25 this week.
Front page of Yahoo....found this. Horrible Taunting Call

Glad the rest of America agrees that the refs were massively wrong there.

My main question with that call -- why was it a nullify-TD penalty? And not post-score? He didn't "taunt" or anything until it was almost over.

I thought during game someone ELSE on ISU got the penalty mid-play and that's why it was called that way.

I'm sure I don't know the full rule, just wondering for clarification.

They said he high-stepped and brushed his shoulder pads - something like that - before he hit the end zone. And that it is considered a spot fall in the NCAA. Unbelievable.

I think it was changed to an in-play penalty 6 or 7 years ago, maybe longer. Fans and media immediately called it dumb, but it's been called less than expected. It was changed because guys were starting to taunt the defense as they were going into the end zone. But it's insane that a small high step would be called a penalty and not the first down celebration by WR or the incomplete celebration by DBs that we see every week.

The ref thought that Hutch was going to do a a lot more than he did. Even if he did high step in, it was pretty tame, especially with the celebrations we see every week.

Just an unbelievable call to make.

Nice for ISU to win the game of inches for a change. Lots of huge plays on both sides today. Two perfect long balls thrown by Sanders. Two missed FGs by OSU. ISU made some nice 3rd down conversion. The 60 yard punt by Mavis was huge. OSU stopped ISU twice on 4th and less than a yard. ISU stopped OSU on a couple 4th and shorts. Really just a wild game between two very good teams.
