They were on CR at some point too.

Then all the premium members started doing what they are starting to do here now.

My opinion is that Paul Clark got very bitter and jaded about covering Iowa State and that was the downfall of that place.

I’ve pondered it but crap like this just makes me more comfortable being a pleb
The only reason I joined the premium board was to help out CF during the pandemic when advertising cash flow crashed. I appreciated the site for many years as a lurker, so I wanted to help it survivie.

I am still chipping in because I want to see CF survive and thrive. I don't do it because I believe I will get all the best information or because it somehow makes me better than others. Are there some things that CW, Blum, and Stanz sometimes share that isn't out in the open yet? Yes. But from what I can determine, they haven't clamped down on what they wouId otherwise report. They just pass on some things that otherwise wouldn't have been shared on CF. I don't view that as snobbery.

There's nothing on premium that used to be for everyone. If you don't pay, you aren't losing anything.
Is this true? I thought that CF staffers were revealing insider information on the premium board that doesn't become public for some time. Is this true? Is this information that they would never reveal before or are they delaying revealing it on the free board?

I don't really care. I'm with Curt on this.

I've been an off and on member of the premium board. The biggest thing is that Chris, Jared, and others are more comfortable speculating there or sharing things before they're completely solid on their reporting. Somethimes that means learning about something sooner, but a lot of times it's just following the process more closely with its ebbs and flows. The information isn't really better or sooner as much as there's more of it.

Also, the CycloneReport example doesn't really fit for me (where I was also an off and on member). That was very much based on exclusivity of information and exclusivity of discussion. Sure Paul did some reporting too, but not anything like the content CF puts out.

Edit: I will say there are times when Chris or others will learn something that everyone will eventually know and it gets there a little sooner. But I don't really think that's why most are on the premium board and might not even be a benefit if you're not checking it fairly frequently.

Most of it is info they aren't comfortable reporting, but rumors, their gut feelings, off the record stuff, etc.

The premium memberships get you:

- Information a little sooner
- A few nuggets that CW may not feel comfortable sharing with everyone
- Access to the premium MB, which is more civil and lacks craziness

That may or may not be “worth it” to everyone. The main reason I subscribe is because Cyclone Fanatic brings me a lot of enjoyment and I am truly a fanatic when it comes to ISU sports.

I just joined 2 months ago and I like the premium information. I’d highly recommend it if you have $11 per month of disposable income because 1) the info is good and 2) the threads there, while not as active, mostly stay on task and are civil. It’s a great way to support the site. But if you don’t have the extra money or want to pay that for a bit more info and behind the scenes stuff, you aren’t missing out on life changing information. To each their own but it’s a cool option to support CF.

Way up there
Love the premium board but I get why someone wouldn't join. Good info, usually a little earlier and some more behind the scenes stuff.

The best part IMO is that I don't have to sift through page after page of speculation. That does take away from what message boards are all about but for topics like expansion, it really helps you avoid the junk that clutters many of those threads.

Same. A bunch of elitists. Why don’t they just stay off of the normie board and then they won’t get so butthurt.
I pay $12/month or $144/year. Didn’t realize that made me an elitist. BTW, I am not butthurt by people not joining. It‘s your money and you are entitled on where to spend it.

I'm a premium subscriber, but I totally get why people get sick of premium subscribers telling posters to join the premium board to get info that is all ready out there. Give it a rest guys, CW isn't paying you.... at least I don't think so. If he is then let me know and I'll start harassing everyone with all my insider knowledge too for a cut.

From what I see, they are not delaying or changing what would otherwise be available on the free boards. They are are sharing some things that might not otherwise be reported or when things can't be confirmed, so I suppose there is earlier access on some things. That's not what motivates my payments so I don't focus on it.
