Looks at his incoming recruiting class... pretty impressive! Also, as we all know, it takes 3-4 years to build a program, which his record shows. A few more years of showing improvement would be nice, but we don't have that option.

I think the hire is ok.... Not great, but not horrible.

he has good pedigree.

His "pedigree" includes Hayden Fry, which should automatically disqualify him for employment at ISU...

Remember how Hayden disparaged and treated ISU like a rented mule any chance he got? Why on earth would ISU hire an assistant from that atmosphere to be its head FB coach? And, yes, I asked the same question the last time it happened.

In the five years preceding Stoops at AU, they won 22 games. In the five years of the Stoops era, they have won 24.

they managed 6 total wins the 2 previous seasons before stoops got there(4-8, and 2-10). meaning the other 3 seasons were good for 16 of those. So those numbers are sorta weighted going a ways back.

Of course stoops was going to stumble for a couple years, but he's been .500 since. Not great, but almost mirroring capt kirks success the last few seasons.

Say ISU hires Stoops and Kirk leaves from Iowa. I doubt Iowa will hire Stoops. They will probably hire a better candidate who has a winning record. Stoops is only 23-33.

haven't read this whole thread but do we know what the buyout on his contract is? i think it is 1.2 mil if a previous link i found was correct & his current salary is 1.025 - i would think that figure would play into this somehow but who knows

And would be 23-45 by the time that happens.

Check out his recruiting class.. this is promising.

Scout.com: Football Recruiting

He's a Stoops.. this will get buzz, people know him. IMO

He's known as the far less talented Stoops.

I really don't think it's him and think a lot of us are pissed for no reason. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think JP would not settle for him.

He's done nothing at Arizona with good recruits. What will he do here in a tougher conference and a much tougher recruiting destination?

Back to back Insight bowls? :skeptical:

I agree that he's not my first choice, but there's not much else out there that is still in our league to get. We have to have some success here before we get a great coach. Until then, we can get a solid coach, and hope for the best. It can't get much worse in the W/L column.

I'm seeing into the future...

ISU hires Stoops...does decent....Ferentz leaves UI.....Stoops leaves for UI.

It'll happen, it just makes too much sense.

as long as you're looking into the future.....can you PM me next week's lotto numbers?
