So Amazon wants in, what if they offer better money than what the pac offers?? The pac is a damn mess and making less than us.

We are at the place to be in a "Big 12 moving forward" mode. Not what I would like but realize the Big 10 may not make a move to expand or assemble an inter-conference force to counter the SEC semi-pro in a third world country thing.

Every time adding teams to the Big 12 comes up there is always so much love on these boards for Colorado State. If we only add 2-4 teams and one is Colorado State just admit this is conference has problems moving forward no matter what. I get it from a location standpoint we all want to go road trip to Colorado. But people CSU athletically is complete trash and not a single person in Colorado cares. From the people I know that live in the Denver area it’s Broncos, Broncos, Broncos, a little Nuggets/Avalanche when they are good and more Broncos.

CU doesn’t even move the needle in that state because nobody cares. There are just too many other football-centric schools to add before even thinking about CSU

I think it’s people selfishly wanting that Colorado road trip back. Can’t blame them; Folsom is still my favorite away game I’ve been to.

But yes, while they may fit the profile of a good peer school, they’re second fiddle in a pro sports state with a disproportionate number of transplants. Not worth elevating.

Spot on here. My thing is they may be a perfect peer school, but so are we for the Big Ten. So if that invite never comes to us to join that conference despite us fitting it perfectly and the only reason is because of the “monetary value” we don’t bring, then let’s NOT do the opposite and invite CSU who is basically the same as us wanting in the Big Ten.

Where is the conference going to get that money to loan those schools?

At $20MM per school, we lose our entire coaching staff most likely, and won't be able to do any facility upgrades anymore either.... so there's that.

The ACC in 2019 paid out $27 Mil per school....Total.

Clemson sure doesn't seem to have a hard time paying Dabo $7million a year.

The ACC revenue is not about to change for the better anytime soon either (2036).

The big 12 made roughly $26 Mil out of the $38 Million from TV revenue. Other $12 Mil came from Bowl games, NCAA etc. This does not include Tier 3.

It is going to be less without Tx and Ou. But given everything that has transpired along with the Big 12 about to pouch the top (2) AAC schools (at least) and BYU etc.. Those monies are going to be rolled into the new Big 12 which ESPN won't be paying for anymore in those conferences lowering the payout even further to the AAC and potentially MWC.

I don't think the new Big 12 will make less than $20 Mil from TV revenue moving forward...getting creative with Tier I think ISU for example could get close to $25 Mil a year from TV.

the new Big 12 is not going to be getting $15 mil a year in TV revenue. It isn't happening.

If the Big 12 adds the teams I think it will, it could definately be the #1 bball conference in the country. Big 12 could add TV revenue on the BBall side using a streaming platform with Peacock or Paramount...TNT, CBS...ETc..

Let's see how the cards fall. I've moved over to being more optimistic on a new big 12. Could be some fun football honestly and fun to watch.

Never said you did but there are always a few on here who are always in love with CSU. Maybe it comes to that but they shouldn’t even be on a top-10 list of schools to add from the G5 IMO.

Yep. Though the one advantage we have is that we’ve been in a power conference the whole way, and know we can hold our own.

Any school that would be elevated from a lesser level would be a project, and unfortunately CSU has a lot of forces against it for the reasons we’ve listed.

I’ve said IF we have to expand, Cincinnati, Memphis, UCF, Houston, BYU in no specific order. If it’s only 2 then BYU, Cincinnati. If its 4 to get to 12 which may have to happen then BYU, Cincinnati, UCF, Houston/Memphis will battle it out for that final spot.

BYU should be the first choice of that bunch. Can make an argument for UCF or Cincinnati for the next spot, but I’d choose Cincinnati.

Though if this is (hopefully) a temporary stopgap, then you stop at 10 to keep the CG and round robin arrangement we currently have. Any teams beyond that is diminishing returns until any further realignments are settled.

Agree round robin is awesome, but if 12 possibly makes a few more million a year while keeping P5 then expand to 12. If not then 10 and schedule your OOC with big, pac, ACC.

Who knows what the number will be, I'm not pretending to. I was just replying to someone who can't understand how a multi-billion dollar enterprise could make a $30 million loan.

Imagine thinking the 8 schools that are taking a 50% hit to their tv money will be able to absorb up front loans

Streaming is the future, annoying wires suck. You need that wire to your house, but outside of that it’s all about wireless.

If Amazon is the plan, then you do what they tell you to do. If that means add 2 teams, then do BYU and either Cinci or UCF. I have a feeling they will want a larger conference though; I wonder if this all ends up in a Big 12/Pac 12 merger with Amazon buying the rights.

You honestly think Clemson relies on their tv money as much as Iowa State does?

fun football in a g 5 conference ends up with an entirely different football coaching staff. And more than likely a new AD
