My first year in the work world I finally had money to buy actual albums. New. When they came out!

I included this album in my list without seeing your post...one of the great albums of the 80s although Synchronicity gets so much attention when it comes to The Police (that is deserved as well)! The Police weren't around all that long...but thankfully their music has been!

This era (1981) was missing some great rock music hence a lot of country entered the pop charts (not saying it wasn't deserving)...but once 1983 hits...country music almost vanishes from the pop charts for the rest of the decade! 1983 thru 1985 is my favorite era for music...some incredible albums came from this time period!

Elvira was crossover hit on the pop chart

This album came out in 1981, and really helped me through the summer of 2020. One positive from the pandemic was revisiting The Clash.

Making Movies by Dire Straits helped me truly appreciate the brilliance of Mark Knopfler. To this day might be my favorite guitarist.

Crowded House Woodface was already mentioned but is so good. Wife and I met in 1992 and Woodface is probably our favorite shared album.

Sorry I'm late for the party this week because I have other business to attend to. Already gone through all the previous posts and you guys have posted some really awesome albums and great songs. Specially thanks to Rulzzz for the history lessons. I love the music in the 80s and 90s and have collected a lot of favorite songs from that period. I don't have any particular attachment to any special albums like some of you do. I'm just a big fan of music in general and listening to music makes me happy. I'd like to share the albums and songs I like from 1981 and 1991 in the follow-up posts.

First and foremost, as a Michael Jackson fan, his 1991 mega-hit album "Dangerous" is obviously my top choice of the 1991 album. As Rulzzz has posted in #8, "Heal the World", "Black and White", "Will You Be There" are all my favorite songs in the album. Here are more hit songs from this Michael Jackson's masterpiece.

Introducing the 1991 Album of the Year (Grammy) "Unforgettable... with Love" by Natalie Cole. In this album, Natalie recorded covers of the songs previously performed by her father Nat King Cole. This album won two Grammys and is a must-own for all Jazz genre-loving fans.

The title song Unforgettable (a duet with her father) won four additional Grammys including Song of the Year and Record of the Year.

Rulzzz's post #29 has reminded me of Roxette's 1991 same name album Joy Ride. Roxette is one of my three favorite Swishish pop bands (Abba and Ace of Base being the other two) and this album contains several of my favorite Roxette songs.

The first song is credited to Rulzzz ;)

As a big Carpenters fan, I have posted a lot of their songs previously. Karen's mesmerizing voice is always one of my favorite female singing voices of all time.

Their 1981 album Made in America is the duo's final studio album before Karen's tragic passing in 1983. In 1985, Richard said, "that was Karen's favorite album and is mine, out of all our projects". Below I've selected four of my favorite songs in this special album.
