I had a vague notion of Crowded House from their hits. Went to Australia and NZ in 1997 for 4 weeks and decided to bring a few cassettes. Knowing they were an Aussie/Kiwi band and stumbling across a greatest hits package a few weeks before leaving I put most of that CD on a tape and away we went. Over 4 weeks with that and not much else to listen to (Radio is sparse in Australia away from the major cities) it got a lot of time listening in the rental cars.

Coming back I decided to explore their albums in depth so came onto this one about 2000. Most fans consider it their best. I can't argue but it seems most of their albums are a mixture of stuff I really like and a few that don't trip my trigger.

My favorite CH track of all time:

The Police - Ghost in the Machine: this album often get overshadowed by the greatness of Synchronicity which was released just two years later. Ghost in the Machine is loaded with great songs! This one in particular (Invisible Sun):

Journey - Escape: I am not a huge Journey guy...don't hate them...respect them...appreciate them...but not a huge fan...although this album is outstanding! Escape is loaded with great songs! This one may be favorite Journey song (Stone in Love, although I love Only the Young as well):

The Cars - Shake It Up: these guys could write some really good radio friendly rock songs! This album is a great example of their talents! I often go back and forth as to which songs are my favorite Cars songs and it still changes! They had one heckuva a run! This song (to me) is so much better than the title track of this album (Since You're Gone):

Alabama had some huge hits from their Feels So Right Album

This era (1981) was missing some great rock music hence a lot of country entered the pop charts (not saying it wasn't deserving)...but once 1983 hits...country music almost vanishes from the pop charts for the rest of the decade! 1983 thru 1985 is my favorite era for music...some incredible albums came from this time period!

“Forbidden Places”
Meat Puppets
July 1, 1991

It doesn’t stretch Meat Puppets boundaries that much … by ’91, a template had been established. Even so, it’s probably the best overall LP between “Up on the Sun” (’85) and “Too High to Die” (’94). Opening track is the band’s highest-charting single on US Modern Rock (behind “Backwater,” from THTD)
