not sure how you came to that conclusion based on my post? I know players received criticism on twitter and instagram but I doubt any scholarship MBB players have spent any time on cyclone fanatic dot com.

Do you, or a family member, by chance draw a paycheck from Iowa State University? Your post history and defense mechanisms seem to indicate someone who is closely attached to the athletic department

Not any longer, I just don’t get the fascination with going after kids, and personal nonsense about the coaches like they did this on purpose.

And this place is very much a microcosm of the cyclone social media that surrounds the basketball program.

Id assume because 2 of them can't get on the court for a winless in conference team and the one who is playing is putting up trash numbers? Not sure I agree with him but I don't think it's that big of a leap.

but the reality is this season, and this spiral, hasn’t really given anyone a chance to find out for sure

I was a teenager in the 70's and you could walk up to Hilton 15 minutes before a game, buy a ticket and sit almost anywhere you wanted.

I'm afraid we are heading back to that. 3 of the last 4 years have been basketball which is hard to watch.

I was in college when Johnny Orr came to town. He had a very wise motto. He knew that his teams wouldn't be great at first, so he made sure his teams played entertaining basketball. He realized people won't keep coming out to watch a team lose, especially if the product they are watching is poor.

I can't even make myself watch this team on TV. I rarely make it more than 5 minutes before I start looking for something/anything else to watch.

It is sad to see that Hilton Magic is circling the drain. Prohm is a great guy, but he hasn't been able to put a good product on the floor. Maybe the job is too big for him.

I think without covid we are already there with the ticket 15 minutes before the game thing.

Did Steve get sacked last night and we just haven't heard about it yet?

Or they just aren’t very good - “normalcy in their college experience” may be the dumbest excuse I’ve seen yet. These freshman are now almost 20 games and months and months of practice into their college experience.

Let’s look at Prohm’s record developing talent...that is likely more of the reason than “normalcy in their college experience”.

I've given up hope that CSP will succeed at ISU. There are obviously big problems that necessitate a change. However, to say the 3 freshmen still available haven't been tremendously impacted by COVID isn't accurate. Preseason didn't happen in any effective way, there has been very little practice, and the quality of competition hasn't been conducive to extended playing time and success.

I am only referring to suggestions that these 3 freshmen aren't any good. This is not commentary on whether CSP is capable of developing them.

This is true for every freshman in the whole country thought? I mean some of it is undoubtedly terrible coaching.

Prohm won’t be here after the season ends. So you would want to hope that they may stick around to see if the new coach is going to help them develop.

but people apparently dont

Or, you know, there’s a pandemic which has changed the way these kids go to school, and practice, and stuff

You do realize that every single team is facing the same pandemic, right? Or are you acknowledging that Prohm sucks so bad he’s the only coach having these issues?

Winners adapt and figure things out. Losers make excuses.

Not arguing otherwise. I've seen glimpses from Dubar of energy, effort, and rebounding. From Blackwell, athleticism. Walker an all-around, although unpolished game. Saying they suck is way premature.

I disagree. I think Coleman-Lands is a great shooter and slasher type. He needs a supporting cast. He struggles one on one.

Yeah, that's kinda my point. He's not great at creating his shot, but he's one of the only guys on our roster who can kinda do it.

Social media is not unique to Iowa State is it? Last I checked every program and player in the country gets scrutinized so to act like we are some high and mighty fan base that never once utters bad things about our teams you are in for a wake up call. You are a D1 athlete getting a scholarship to play basketball, coaches getting millions to coach basketball, if your feelings are hurt by some message boards than you need thicker skin or go be an accountant somewhere.

I’m not saying the people who direct message at the players and coaches Twitters and Instagrams is okay, because that is certainly not, but critiquing/criticizing/bashing/whatever you want to call it about how bad we are and that it isn’t acceptable is fine by me.

We suck. A lot of the players we have aren’t high level contributors. Those are facts. We shouldn’t accept that at Iowa State just because they are trying hard. Suck it up.

Sigh. It’s not an excuse. But to dismiss the entire situation right away because it doesn’t cast the worst possible light on the kids is not necessary.

they chose to come here and play. It’s ok to give them at least a little understanding.
