Will be interesting to hear the Cubs take on Bryant's play after the season is over. My guess the party line will be he played through injuries. But looking at the box score he has something like the 8th best On Base and Slugging % among the Cubs core players.
Not good numbers for a player looking for a big payday. A lot of options out there for about half the $. And Bote wouldn't be a bad option if he is your team's 8th/9th batter.
Didn't realize until seeing on Twitter that was potentially/probably Lester's last start as a Cub in Wrigley. Cubs certainly won't pick up his option but I'm somewhat hopeful they can sign him to a cheap deal for one more year so he can have the farewell he deserves with the Cubs. IMO he gets a lot of credit for being one of the main guys involved in the turnaround. He's a true professional that I'll miss seeing in a Cubs jersey if he doesn't return
lol Javy
Not a smart decision at all but it worked.
I think he creates many of the errors because teams have no idea what he is going to do so pitchers and defenders get off their game.False. If it's Javy, it's smart.

And that doesn't address bad pitches other batters may see because the pitcher is worried about that crazy baserunner - more so than other base stealers.Me, too. He forces errors by changing the game.
Javy is revolutionizing baseball before our eyes with things like this, his approach to sliding, and whatever else I'm not thinking of.

Despite his high strikeout rate, if I was in the Cubs organization locking him up would be a top priority. Not only is he a + defensively, and a monster on the base paths, but having a player who is that exciting to watch sells tickets. I have heard him called a bad pitch hitter - that is he swings at pitches outside the strike zone but turns more than his share of them into hits. We haven't seen that much of it this year, but that walk off hit (would have been at least a double if the game wasn't over) was a great example. It was a great pitch - just the swing was better.
