isu’s 2nd round draft picks are way different than any of Iowa’s 2nd round draft picks. Clone fans are the only ones who know the truth.

This is bad.

ISU's 2nd round draft picks are much different than Iowa has had in basketball. ISU's guys have actually played a bunch in the NBA.

So in your estimation there are a lot of AAU teams in college basketball? I'm sorry Iowa has no draw to transfers. Probably blame Fran for that.
What you are doing is not typical. Counting on 3 or 4 transfer players to come in and start? That's desperation.

Agree to disagree. Smith is a stud. Harris, JCL and Johnson are good

You throw the term stud around a lot. He is a good player.

Johnson put up average numbers in the Sun Belt. Harris will just take minutes from Jackson's development. Coleman Lands has always killed Iowa so at least you have that.

Coleman Lands and Harris have played a combined 5 plus seasons of college basketball and the only type of recognition either have earned is Harris being named to the All-Freshman team in the AAC.

A lot of transfers do better in new environments. Lol at Harris will take minutes away of Jackson's development. Harris is better than Jackson

I was reading through a thread on the basketball board the other day, I think the transfer thread, and someone posted a chart showing hardly any transfers last year put up better numbers at their new school.

You are depending on kids from low majors (Johnson), role players that were recruited over (Harris) or have been around long enough to have guarded Yogi Ferrell and Denzel Valentine (Coleman Lands) to elevate one of the worst teams in Power 5 basketball last year to the NCAA tournament after losing a lottery pick.

It is an NIT roster if you add Smith.

We were calling last year's Iowa roster terrible and they ended up being solid. You never know what's going to happen. If we add Smith, he'll fix a ton of issues we had last year. Our other transfers also help fix issues we had last year. We bring back some okay-solid pieces as well as bring in a good recruiting class.

If things work out well, I think we're better than an NIT team. I don't think we're going to be a great team by any means next year but you don't have to be great to make the tournament. We'll all just have to wait and see. Our success still depends on whether Harris gets his waiver and whether we land Smith and/ or Gach and he becomes eligible as well.

What specific issues will each newcomer fix?

It is easy to just say the new guys are going to fix the issues the old guys had but you have to be more specific than that. You still have only one guy that has proven to be a high impact player at the Power 6 level (Bolton).

If Harris gets a waiver, the likely starting back court of Harris, Bolton and Coleman Lands have more career turnovers than assists.

Harris played one year as a starter and named to the conference team then became a reserve because Memphis enrolled a number of 4-5 star prospects... circumstances do matter.
Harris and JCL are both top 100 recruits for a reason and have produced at a power 6 level.
Past accolades or not they are quality adds for any program and will help ISU.

Many of ISU past transfers didn't have the accolades and succeeded/improved under Prohm (Nader, Burton, Shayok). Why can't Harris, Johnson and JCL be next?

Solomon Young was pretty impactful last season. On defense, Conditt is pretty impactful. You then have Jackson who was a freshman who shot well the back half of the year. You already named Bolton and that's literally it from last year's roster. Javan Johnson shot well from the 3 and is 6'7". He fixes the issue we had last year at the 3 or 4 or whatever position he ends up playing. Smith contributed to a P-5 school last year and JCL contributed to a P-6 school. Harris is a good shooter and scorer.

You're basing our entire season next year off the fact that we don't have guys that can pass. We had one of the best passers in the nation last year and still sucked. Will turnovers hurt us next year if guys average those same numbers? Yeah for sure. But that doesn't mean we can't be a tournament team. Our offense was not the issue last year. It was defense defense defense. We were pathetically awful at that and if we don't get better at that we could be in for another very long year.

Because they're using recency bias to prove we will suck next year.

The AAC is not a Power 6 conference so your statement about Harris producing at a P6 level doesnt add up.

You only listed 3 transfers from the Prohm era and one of them, Nader, committed to Hoiberg. The rest of the list of Prohm era transfers explains why Harrhis, Johnson and JCL cant all be next.

Oh. Come. On. You don't think the AAC counts as a high major basketball conference with the likes of Cincy, Houston, Memphis, and Wichita State in there?

AAC is 100% a good basketball conference. To argue otherwise is dumb.

Young put up really good numbers against some bad teams and then somewhat disappeared against good teams. Conditt gave your team absolutely nothing after the first conference game of the season. In conference games, he had almost 3 times as many fouls (41) as he did blocked shots (15).

A guy that averaged 10 points and 4 rebounds in the Sun Belt is going to fix the issues that a team in the Big 12 has at the 3 or 4?

I already said Smith is good and would be the best of your transfer gets if he comes to ISU. He would immediately start at the 4.

You have a bunch of role players that would be 4th or 5th options on good teams. You are depending on the being 2nd or 3rd options.

"Nope, not P6, not good." So if we got a transfer from Gonzaga that player's career would be invalid because he was not indeed in a P6 conference?
