Well technically they are all new tests, but was it not already being used by many other countries and already had approval in the US when we decided to use it?

Approved because of a relaxing of regulations. Approved doesn't mean as much right now. Just look at how the market is being flooded with bad antibody tests. The fact is Utah has shown these tests look like they are producing a lot of false negatives.
The state lab is testing the effectiveness of the machines the tests run through and not the actual accuracy of the tests as far as I know.

Unfortunately, the restrictions aren't what's keeping most people in.

No not yet I mean this Friday that is going to be part of the announcement. It was her tease at yesterday's press conference. Someone asked about when campgrounds will be open and she said say tuned Friday and we will have an exciting announcement!

Lifting restrictions won't get people out for large numbers of people. I don't think the 20-25% of people who want the restrictions lifted are going to make a huge economic impact. I'm curious - what occupation do you friends have that you expect a switch to flip and they can go back to full income on Friday?

The broader point is that the "shut down" orders / restrictions are not the cause of the economic impacts - the virus is the cause. Many companies "shutdown" or scaled back prior to state-specific restrictions and will not "re-open" just because the state allows it. They will "re-open" when people are willing and feel safe to shop in-person, so the virus has to be shown to be under control and people to feel safe in the stores before the economic recovery can be felt.

Gotcha. I think that will be a good think at least if public facilities remain closed. Allowing people with campers to go should spread people out some. It should also give people another avenue of relief from being stuck at home.

Really nothing different about staying in your camper vs staying in your home. Like you said as long as public areas like a pool are closed.

I think the risk of spread in outside venues is generally low, most outside areas can be re-opened, with enclosed spaces with publicly shared sufraces (bathrooms, etc) remaining closed. Playgrounds I think can be re-opened as well, sunlight will prevent most or all playground transmissions.

the problem is that people appear to not be adhering to good safety guidelines regarding spacing and masks in outdoor areas.

For the 77 counties, I expect all businesses to be able to open; restrictions on distancing.

For the 22 counties, some will open with restrictions the original 77 had. A few of the 22 will stay status quo as now.

Just my expectations.

From talking to state employees I absolutely believe that. She is not well liked at all so it’s not like there is some loyalty to cover something up.

Heck the Workday fiasco came out before it was even actually announced that it was happening.

At the end of the day there are enough people working for the state with enough political persuasions that stuff will come out.

I'm not saying things won't leak out, of course they will. My point is that leaks are not a substitute for actual transparency or oversight.

As for Workday, I don't know what you're hearing but I've got some insight into it as well and there's literally nothing that would surprise me, from a completely corrupt procurement process to terrible implementation. Perhaps when the legislature is back in session that will get some scrutiny, but I doubt it.

100% accurate. Sure, there will be enough idiots that will drop their guard and go about their daily life but the majority of people will still be cautious. People actually believe that a switch is going to flip and business will thrive, which blows my mind.

I went to law school with Gregg but I didn't think he existed there either. I don't think I had one class with him. I would hear his name and saw his picture but didn't know him at all. From what I do know is really smart but also really political. To me his quick rise shows that he was willing to do whatever politically that the right wanted. In other words, a kiss ass. But he did do good things in the Public Defender's office. I would take him over Reynold's any day of the week because at least I know he has the intelligence needed for the job. I don't think she does.

For the Workday thing I would be shocked if it is remotely on schedule. I know that the current implementation at DOT and Iowa State has gone horribly. I think at the end of the day something like it is long overdue but how they got there is really questionable.

Reynolds is going to end up being one of the most unpopular governors in the country when this is all done.

She should be, not to the rural Iowans.

I agree her communication has been abysmal but I guess I don’t get what transparency is required here. Yeah we don’t want to wait a month or more so we are using a no bid emergency procurement. There’s only so much due diligence you can do in that situation. A majority of the due diligence will be via the contract. They should have terms such that explain what standards they have for accuracy and such.

I can tell you a much worse no bid contract that she’s done in the last year. That one has legit concerns and yet frankly nobody cares.

Giving some kind of thought out answer behind her decision making process doesn't seem like too much to ask.

Her actions have been continually taking on the appearance of just being political.

Thankfully we aren't overloaded, and our death rate has stayed below other places, but I think that's probably more to do with things outside of governmental control.

lol, man, do you ever post anything that you don't have to immediately walk back the moment you get the slightest bit of pushback? What compels you to keep posting when you just constantly get owned and proven wrong?

Even you walk back is terrible. Whistleblower complaints are a last line of defense and are purely reactive, happening after the fact and in the case of something moving quickly like this, far to late to fix anything. At best they can be used to hold someone accountable at some time down the road.
