I don't remember if this story was linked here yet or not, it's really an excellent article on the whole Test Iowa / Nomi Health / Ashton Kutcher story

Mark Newman, the CEO of Nomi Health, has never worked in health care, except he is on the board of a national pharmacy, which stands to benefit if hydroxchloroquine is approved as a treatment for COVID-19. And now, the 37-year-old tech entrepreneur, with a little help from Iowa native and star of the TV show “Punk’d” Ashton Kutcher, is leading the COVID-19 testing in Utah, Iowa and Nebraska.

It’s an outrageous reality, but nothing is unlikely in a world upended by pandemic — where the president claims that drinking bleach will help cure us of disease (it won’t), and the Health and Human Services Department employed a man whose most recent job was breeding labradoodles to lead their day-to-day COVID-19 response.

They weren't suggestions.

It was asked of the Dr.s there if injections of disinfectent or sun in the body were options.

At a nationally televised briefing about a pandemic that is connected to over 50,000 US deaths in under 2 months.

Just sarcasm though. Totally appropriate and it's just gonna be ambers by fall so it will be others' faults for a second (or third) wave.
Wow CNN’s got you all riled up.

I told you earlier I’m not in any way defending the procurement of this product but you are acting like it is a health product and not a tech product. It could be a total scam but that isn’t because it is a tech company.

I linked a story about an interview with the CEO of the tech company. No need to get defensive.

And running COVID-19 tests is, in fact, a health product.

Running the tests is but that is still done by IDPH as far as I’m aware. Basically this is a giant survey product.

We were told today to be ready to have our hours cut drastically in the coming weeks. Comforting. Why in the hell they just wouldn't lay off a bunch of us for a few weeks is beyond me. At least I would know exactly how much I would be making if I was getting unemployment. If I get cut down to less than 20 hours a week it may get tough to pay bills.

This is true, but they aren't developing and manufacturing the tests and ppe they are selling to Iowa. It's all resale. I would guess most companies you purchase ppe and tests from don't have CEOs that are healthcare experts. I don't like the hydoxychloroquin stuff, but if Iowa starts treating people with that the media is going to be all over it.

the tests are run by the state, but provided by Nomi :

Here’s how it works: you log onto the testing website and fill out a questionnaire, if you qualify for COVID-19 testing you pick a time slot and a testing location. When you show up, you are swabbed and promised a test result in the next couple of days.

What Nomi does is provide the tests, testing equipment, assessment tools and PPE. The states provide the rest.

you should still be able to file for unemployment if your hours are drastically reduced.

Correct. They will send a weekly benefit amount and if you make under that amount each week you file your claim you will get unemployment benefits

I don't watch CNN or any 24 hours news cycle. Giving everything shock value from either side of the aisle isn't my deal.

These are things that have happened...usually defended with 'But CNN and that's now what was said, just what was recorded!' to justify it.

Eventually you will pick it up at the grocery store, hardware store, or from a family member. The key is to keep the infections at a level where hospitals aren’t overwhelmed. Eventually everyone will be in contact with the virus.

There's a very good chance I was in contact and then some from early February-mid March and there's even a solid chance I had it vs. the timing of the first confirmed case in my county, city, and population I was around day to day.

I won't be seeing family which is hard but I have family that is high risk so can't be around them anyway until I'm able to take an antibody test and concrete information about immunity is available.

Until then I'll do just fine without simple entertainments.

Remember yesterday when he sincerely presented that nonsense as a potential cure?

You have to wonder about where he would get such an idea. Then he went all cnn bad, and it became obvious.
