Got back from Mexico on the 28th. Was tentatively thinking of going to Florida for more sun and some spring training to catch Yanks/Twins. Decided to forgo that. Seeing as half the Yankees I'd like to see are hurt and didn't want to pay as much as tickets are to games just to watch a bunch of no names made the decision easier. Air fare had certainly dropped from what I looked at 4 weeks ago though.

Weather outside is a 10 on the gloomy scale so not liking the stay out home decision that much right now.

I voted no just because I wanted to see the results. Surprised to see it's as close to 50-50 as it is.

Wasn't planning on traveling anyway. My whole life is Spring Break. Without the excessive drinking and passing out.

Also, over 60 YO, so it gives a person a chance to consider your own passing in a very real way. Fortunately no underlying health issues so that's one thing. But lots and lots of old people in our building (It's Florida!). One very fragile older lady from NYC on oxygen living with her daughter and SIL. And another older couple where she's very vibrant and healthy but he's had issues and is in a wheelchair and of questionable fitness. Their daughter was planning to come down on 3/17 but cancelled because of the father's condition. Seemed like a cautious but logical decision then (a week ago). Now it seems like a no brainer.

It really doesn't have anything to do with "living scared". It is about preventing unnecessary spread of a virus that can be lethal and is lethal to our most vulnerable.

So I’m supposed to just lock myself in my house until “who knows”?

I understand that this illness, like most others, is very contagious and is harder on certain sections of the population than others. It sucks. It really does. I have family/friends in more vulnerable situations, like most everyone else. I’m not in a position to tell someone how to handle this, but I will say this...as long as it’s still legal to move about and enjoy my life while I can, I’m going to ******* do it.

No spring break planned. I'm one of these people that think some of the stuff going on right now is a little too extreme and a result of panic so I am just living my life as normal as possible while being more aware of my hygiene practices. That being said if I did have a trip planned I'd be thinking long and hard about if it's worth going right now. Especially if it is overseas, to an area with a lot of known cases, a cruise, or involves large gatherings. Just doesn't seem to be worth the potential risk, if you can cancel and get a full refund save it and use it for another trip later once this pandemic calms down. Seems to me like airports and cruise ships could become the hot zones for contracting this. Las Vegas is another place I fear could become a hot zone with so many people going in/out of there and handling money, casino chips, machines, etc.

Yeah, people thinking they're going to show that virus who's boss and they won't be told what to do just aren't thinking about the big picture. This isn't about YOU, it's about ALL OF US.
This. We all know and care about at least one person who would be in grave danger should they get it. Be smart, take precaution, and lets get back to normal sooner than later.

We left home in Omaha on February 17 in our RV. We have been staying on the Gulf Coast in Biloxi, Mississippi. Not seeing a lot of Spring Breakers here, but then I'm not sure how much this is considered a destination for them anyway. It is sunny and about 75. Miles of public beaches and about a dozen or more casinos, so this appears to be a resort town, maybe just not for college-aged kids.

I think the whole state here has one diagnosed case of the virus, some guy got it while in Florida. So most people here are taking this whole thing with kind of a "whatever" attitude. I sure wouldn't let it stop me from traveling. We will be on the road until about April 4.

I talked to my parents the other night; they live in Florida and their attitude was pretty much the same.

I'd be careful about putting too much stock in only the number of diagnosed cases. One of the big issues at play in this whole deal is that because testing started so late and it's still limited nobody has a real solid grasp on how widespread it is.

We have a trip planned in May. Currently hoping things don't get that bad and are clearing up by then, but we will cancel if they don't. Researching last night it will cost about $500-$600 for a trip we never took. Sucks, but its a sunk cost and not getting sick would be great!

Made the decision tonight to postpone our trip. It sucks, but its the right call. Hopefully we can take our trip in the Summer instead.

Almost this entire post is like how 4 or 5 Zombie movies start. Be careful!

Lay low for awhile. Self quarantine. Limit contact with others. Wash hands often. Keep social distance. Everyone can be a carrier. The responsible thing to do is exercise caution and take preventive measures. Be responsible and not put others at risk that could be vulnerable.

Not exactly sure.
Cancelled out, don't want to get stuck somewhere and they are cancelling the main events and attractions we would want to see. Right now if we fly somewhere, I have damages down to a grand.

We canceled our trip last night. We were going to drive down to St Louis to visit my brother and sister-in-law for a few days, but it sounds like they are preparing to close a lot of the places we would visit (Arch, Zoo, Museum). My brother and SIL are also in the medical field and are being asked to put in a lot of hours, so it was sounding like our trip was going to be my kids watching Disney+ all day, just at a different house.

I did buy Super Mario Maker 2 so maybe that will distract my kids for a few hours. I originally had all of next week off, but I may only take a few days off and save those vacation days for later in the year.

Our neighbors had been planning to take their family to Disney World. They had been hyping it up to their kids for months and they cancelled their trip yesterday. I am devastated for them.

IM confused by this whole virus thing. Like no big crowds but people still go out to the bars, grocery stores, and a bunch of other places. So I am kind of confused by the whole thing to be honest. I was at a bar last night and it was really busy. Right now my family plans on flying to Florida on Monday and coming back the following Monday.
