A season ending in disappointment and the season being a success are two different things. If we get taken out in the first round nearly everybody will be disappointed. In my opinion the season has already been a success. Hawks have been ranked for much of the year, have played in a lot of entertaining games, and have won a good number of big games against good opponents. They've also laid some eggs but overall they have been a good team and a lot of fun to watch.
And I would completely agree with that logic and think Iowa State fans should've viewed last year's team as such. Successful overall season with a disappointing NCAA tournament.

I think Fran has already surpassed his best season as a coach.
So far this has been Fran's best year, even if that doesn't equate to an NCAA victory or making It far in the Big 10 tournament. You have to take everything into consideration.

Can't deny that the rotation has been very limited and that has probably helped. Seems like that has been one of his biggest struggles in the past.

One day (approximately 22 years ago), a trucker left a dump in the toilet of a rest area in Marion, IA. Unbeknownst to him, not flushing the turd would set in motion a chain of events that would alter Hawkeye basketball for years to come. After about a week of no one stopping by that rest area, the turd mutated and crawled out of the rest area and into a nearby cornfield where it continued to grow for the next year. Laying there every day, it was able to hear the radios in farmers tractors while they listened to Hawkeye sports and a dream was born. The turd decided it would someday become the greatest Hawkeye player to ever live.

Fast forward to harvest season and the turd was startled by the sound of the combines and ran for its life to a nearby home. As Hawkeye lore would have it, it found itself outside the house of Iowa-superfan family The Bohannons. The Bohannons took pity of the scared turd at their doorstep and decided to adopt the little piece of ****. At first, the youngest adopted member of the family just helped around the house using his talents to unclog toilets and spread manure on the family fields, but it always spent the afternoons staring out the basement window at the Dad teaching his three sons how to play the game of basketball. If he wanted to become part of the family, he decided he would have to learn this game! Unfortunately, he was not very good at it and the brothers decided to give him the ironic name "Jordan". "Great shot, Jordan!" "Nice turnover, Jordan!"

As the sons became older and decided to attend other schools, the dad was dissapointed none were going to go to his beloved Hawkeyes. One day after breakfast, he looked out the window and saw little **** shooting a basketball and decided to teach him the game. Now, he thought to himself, this piece of **** was not very athletic, could not jump very high, was pretty weak, and could not stay in front of him on defense so he would need to find something for it to be good at. After blocking little ****'s layup attempt for the 100th time that day, he decided that this turd would need to learn to shoot from as far as possible to avoid all defenders. They finally found one thing he could exploit!

Day and night, rain or shine (preferably shine, as to keep the family driveway clean) you could see "Jordan" out there practicing just free throws and 3-pointers. Eventually the day came when it had a chance to try out for the high school team. Every shot it touched would go up and in the basket. The other players hated this selfish ****, but the coach and "Jordan" needed all the points in order to make it to state and garner the attention of the mighty Hawkeyes. One day, an Iowa assistant came to a game and was impressed by its shooting ability. He texted a video to Coach Fran and just wrote "Look at this **** !" Coach was definitely impressed.

Coach Fran decided to take a flyer on the piece of crap and the rest is a story for another day (in the upcoming Story of Jordan Bohannon - Part II).

So after this year he'll have 3 guys in two years that have been drafted that he recruited to come to Iowa State, one of them being a lottery pick.. How is that not doing a "pretty good job"? Lol
Yet zero tourney wins. Seems like not a very good return on investment

Imagine taking the time to think that up and then post it.

All about a player this board thinks sucks.
You've had to create countless usernames.
You probably spend more time on this board than 99.9% of the registered users. Hell you were posting at 11pm last night and 6am this morning.
So for you to judge anyone's time is laughable.
