Thats why I was told. Unless they were confused with the other FB assistant(Thorton or something like that, idr) that got fired around the same time.
Called her back confirmed it was Thurston, not Wade. That's my bad, thanks for clarifying.

They were both let go about the same time though.

Thurston just let go/not retained? But pants remained on? Lol

You say that like there is something wrong with doing that.

I love how talking about any time the S&C coach gets brought up, who is a highly trained and educated specialist in the area, everyone on the board becomes full meathead and knows exactly how it should be done.
Haven’t really heard many say that. Most are admitting they don’t know what a good or bad hire is but all the people that should think this is a great hire.

This is great that we got an alleged upgrade in The S&C department but let's not deflect that the majority of the issues this year was due to what was happening between the ears.

Wonder if anyone is going to start using some of this restricted blood flow results. Looks like it really works but would worry me.

https://fitness.mercola.com/sites/f...3/kaatsu-blood-flow-restriction-training.aspx

Because the exercise is done with such low weights, there's far less muscle fiber trauma and damage; especially relative to conventional strength training. This means you are able to recover much quicker, so you don't have to dig yourself out of a hole the next few days. In most cases, you can exercise different body parts nearly every day and rapidly attain the metabolic and physical benefits.
BFr is used at very high levels. There is some science but not volumes of research.

Does this mean they have to buy new equipment and redo the S&C facilities again? Then in 10 months we will get a letter from Pollard saying how well that money was spent, if things are good, or how we need to give that investment time, if things are going bad,

Did we redo the S&C facilities when Campbell was hired? All that I recall is Rudy getting rid of some of those treadmills the previous staff was enamored of.

Not saying this is at all related, but I'd think a great S&C coach could absolutely teach mental toughness and focus. Often said they're the coach the players spend the most time with.

Yes. I think every time a new S&C coach has been hired changes have been made to equipment.

When a change like this is made how long will it be that we should expect to see progress ? Will it be by next season or will it take more than a year? Also, will this help in recruiting ? Don't know if Pitt had decent recruiting compared to us or not.

He’s going to run things his own way so yeah probably will change a few things out. The amount spent probably won’t be much when compared to all the facilities going up and upgrades. Who cares anyways if he does, according to experts and Campbell he’s an upgrade.

He’s going to start offseason workouts with the guys so I would expect progress this year, but even more the following year. If he’s as good as they say that is. Not sure how much the SC has to do with recruiting until the players visit. I’m guessing the new student athlete center is going to be a big recruiting point.

Seems like we plucked him from Pittsburgh, and his players liked him. I guess we will see if he's any better than Wade.

I liked this exchange, I laughed.

"Who goes to Ames, Iowa?

"People in the witness protection program".

Seems like a lot of the posters on the Pitt site weren't all that impressed with him - maybe sour grapes but not like they're all that concerned
