Really need Oklahoma to win the Big 12 (If it's not going to be us) and make the CFP

That would put either Baylor, Iowa State or Texas in the Sugar Bowl. It will also be interesting to see if they pick the loser of the Big 12 Championship game or the 3rd place team if they are hot, not coming off a loss and their records are very similar.

Right now the edge is to Baylor but they haven't played TCU, Texas or Oklahoma yet.

Not sure how the Alamo bowl feels about and Iowa State return trip in back to back years... they would pick from the remaining Texas school and Iowa State. The other would fall to the Camping World.

My very optimistic view is

CFP: Oklahoma 13-0
Sugar: Iowa State 9-4
Alamo: Texas 9-3
Camping World: Baylor 9-3

More probable:
CFP: Oklahoma 13-0
Sugar: Baylor 10-3
Alamo: Texas 9-3
CW: Iowa State 8-4
Still trying to come to grips with how happy the Big 12 would be with Baylor rep'ing the conference...

ESPN has us going to the Camping World Bowl in Orlando, FL. It is a DEC 28th bowl. Who would go and do you think ISU fans would show up like the always do?

I spent too much money buying booze at 6 am on Saturday because I'm an alcoholic, so I'll be staying home drinking from the case of Crown I bought because I'm an alcoholic. But I'm sure you'll go because you're such a huge Iowa State fan and you "avoided the crowd and sleep in over saving a few dollars per bottle" this weekend.

If it's Camping World or Sugar we'll be there. If it's Alamo again we'd be 50-50. Had lots of fun but going to the same place two years in a row is less appealing. If we don't go to one of these three it'd mean we didn't finish the season strong and finished outside of the top 4 (assuming OK is in CFP).

honestly having the Cheez It Bowl on the 27th instead of the 26th is huge, but we arent falling that far this year

I would love to go to Camping World. Orlando in December is much better than Memphis. Stadium is in a crap part of Orlando but there's so much to do in the area, even without the theme parks.

Also LOL at the person who compared Des Moines population to Orlando. You may be right that the population of each city itself is almost the same, but the Orlando metro is 2.5 million compared to what, 600k for DSM area.

I’d be down with playing Pitt, Virginia, Va Tech. Teams like Wake Forest, Duke, Boston College don’t excite me at all.

Oh man, your optimistic scenario has me salivating! A trip to the Sugar Bowl would be a must!

As for the original OP, it's neat that ISU hasn't been to Orlando yet and it would be a fun destination for families. Can't say it excites me too much because we just did the Disneyworld thing as a family and it is an incredibly car-centric destination (much like Iowa). Still, I think many Cyclones would love it and for families it could be an absolutely super trip!

West Palm is pushing it. Still about 3 to 3 1/2 hours to Orlando from there. Tampa makes more sense, its about a hour and a half. Ft Meyers would be in the 2 to 3 hours range for driving. If you don't mind the drive, I agree it's not bad, and plenty of beaches on both sides of the state. Orlando is really spread out though, and because there's so much standing water it can be really confusing to navigate as a tourist.
WP is about 2.5 to the Orlando Airport(170ish miles). Get a convertible and enjoy the ride on late December day.
