Horrible news out of Ireland

  • After Iowa State won the Big 12, a Cyclone made a wonderful offer to We Will that now increases our match. Now all gifts up to $400,000 between now and the Final 4 will be matched. Please consider giving at We Will Collective.

The game between Illinois and Nebraska to start the 2021 season will be in Dublin, Ireland. Poor bastards. The heck did they do to have to get this game instead of a game between two good teams.

Wow, dumb. If ND/Navy are already doing it how do you not follow up with BC if at all? There is absolutely no connection with Ireland and Nebraska...unless you're gonna make some stupid reach to Bob Devaney being Irish.

Is this considered an act of war?

Can they both stay there?

Makes sense. They'll score less points than a regular soccer match

Ireland - thanks but we'd prefer another potato famine.

Now there will be 2 countries that won’t watch this game.

Ireland sends us U2, Van Morrison and Guinness. We send them Nebraska/Illinois football. Are we sanctioning Ireland for something?
For real...I can think of like 30 CFB teams I'd rather the Irish people get exposed to than these two. What's part 3; Rutgers vs. Maryland?

This is another classic case of the B1G overestimating how much people care about them. B1G gonna B1G, I guess.

It used to be when you played a game out of the 48 states, the game did not count into your game limit and thus you could play an extra game. I think that is the only way they could get anyone to play Hawaii. That was way back before 12 game seasons and conference chamionship games though. Anyone know if this is still the case? If it is , the B1G could be using it to try and get another team eligible for a bowl.

I can say when I was in Ireland and Northern Ireland a couple years ago I got asked about football several times in pubs when they heard my American accent. One Irish guy had even made a point to go to a Florida high school game when he had been there. Have never had anyone want to talk about it in either England or continental Europe (I'd never bring it up as a topic anywhere).

Five or six people in the entire state of Illinois watch Illinois football and I'm guessing there are several million people of Irish heritage.

In 15 years living in Chicago I didn't meet a single Illinois fan. Not one.
