People were watching The Voice during the evening meal last night and someone sang this so I played it for them so they knew who made it famous. So of course I woke up this morning with it running on a loop inside my noggin.

Sometimes hear her stuff and think to myself "Whatever happened to Sade?"

The answer to that for musicians is usually "They are playing Indian casino ballrooms."

On another thread, someone posted the Debbie Boone classic, You Light Up my Life. Because of, or in spite of, the earworm, I have hope now, to carry on.

This is definitely one of those posts where I'm having trouble deciding between agree and funny.

Thank you. By going back to this post, I was able to get that dumb Billy Ray Cyrus song out of my head. Better yet, due to the possible religious undertones (or overtones, I'm not sure which one), I was able to displace it with Livin' on a Prayer. Much better.

Sometimes it's nice to have a brain that doesn't function exactly linearly.

I get a daily e-mail from a lady with the last name Hollenbeck. So, of course, every damn morning I get Hollaback Girl stuck in my head for a few minutes.

"Few times I've been around that track..."

Not a true earworm but was racing to get home before the supper thunderstorms (possible hail) and when I got to my garage I was all:

"Come in," she said, "I'll give you shelter from the storm."

This is how earworms happen.

A WWII vintage Consolidated PBY just flew over my house. The PBY is called the Catalina. So naturally Catalina went to Santa Catalina in my head and now the song 26 Miles (Santa Catalina) is in my head.

Twenty-six miles across the sea
Santa Catalina is a-waitin' for me,
Santa Catalina, the island of romance,
romance, romance, romance.
Water all around it ev'rywhere,
tropical trees and the salty air,

That's awesome! I didn't figure that any of those were still capable of flight. Such a cool aircraft.

Air show at Flying Cloud Airport in Eden Prairie today. Also saw a B-24 this morning. I think the they can fly a corridor that runs right by me without getting into the more controlled airspace of MSP.

19th Nervous Breakdown by the Rolling Stones.

I blame the Ginger Baker news. Got me thinking of how old some of the guys I listened to in the '60's are. So, of course, Stones earworm. I am highly suggestible.

Earworms come on so easily these days, if I even read about a song, it might start a new one.

I went to a dance last night where the band played mostly 70s and 80s popular music but a few older songs. Anyway, they played Folsom Prison Blues (on the heels of the Ken Burns Country documentary of a couple weeks ago) and it's been stuck in my head ever since.
