Our son lives in MS and has season tickets for Mississippi State, so we follow them closely. Not a good team this year. Likely a 5 - 7 team this year if I had to guess. Quarterback is not a good passer at all. Missed several wide open receivers against K State. So that win is simply not the resume builder it normally would be. Even so, KSU is a little better than thought 4 weeks ago. Actually the whole conference is better than originally thought.

This seems like a fair assessment to me. Miss State was in the game because K-State gift wrapped 17-points for them. Even though K-State beat the spread by 14-points, I don't see the Dawgs as an SEC challenger by any means. They go to Auburn this weekend for a fact check after waxing Kentucky last Saturday. And K-State, a 4.5 underdog, will get a far better reading in Stillwater than being a 7-point dog going to Starkville.

I don't know if the conference is better or worse than projected at this point in time. It's far too early to draw any conclusions. Certainly, a few teams have underperformed expectations, like TxT, and others have exceeded, like Ku.
