Yes, that's how it works in Iowa, too. They gave me a copy and told me to keep and carry it with my expired one. I was kinda leery when I went up to the security guy at DSM that day. But I probably confused him unnecessarily by trying to explain what I was giving him. I should have just kept quiet and only answered his questions. No big deal and I passed with flying colorsI just remembered when I last renewed my license I had to bring in some other forms of documentation. But I thought all of that was to confirm my home address. Nebraska no longer gives you the new license. They give you a paper one and send you the real license to your address to try to prevent fraud.
Even for an ordinary state ID card in Iowa, they mail it to you. I suppose someone might try to pass themselves off as an "overpaid government employee trying to screw small business owners (hotels) by demanding a state rate."Years ago Iowa used to give you the license on the spot because it was just a form with your picture attached that they laminated. Of course they also used to use your social security number as your license number...
You're observant.Am I the only one who found it funny that a post about the hummingbird (the helicopter of the bird world) feeder not lasting and a pic of a full size primitive helicopter were posted back to back?
Yes, I probably am the only twisted individual who went there...
Airport security was not as intense either. Didn't even need freaking ID to board planes.
@BoxsterCy, you might be interested to know that the vixen now works for Nels Pederson Co. out of Badger, IA. I'm betting they were in business when you lived there.....I think the third generation of Pederson boys are running it now.
In today's clash of parenting styles, Z and I visited the Bookmobile again.
Z was looking at a graphic novel, had it in her hands, and a mom came in with her two boys.
They gravitated to that section, and the mom fired off "We're not reading graphic novels. Our books are over here."
As they walked over, Z did what Z will do and figured she was wrong. She put that one back too quickly, but we kept looking while I egged her on to get whatever she wanted.
I'm sure the mom there was thinking something like "serious books only, to encourage serious reading later." Z recovered with a stack of DC Super Hero Girls graphic novels and some videos.
I was hoping that the mom would say something about how graphic novels prevent people from becoming serious readers, just so I could say, "That's how I started. Sure, I only have a heavy reading PhD, but I think reading what you want will get someone reading."
But it didn't work out. Z and the boys played, talked, and laughed, and I didn't get to make a jerk of myself.

That's actually very interesting to me as one of Nels' grandkids was a friend of mine in high school.@BoxsterCy, you might be interested to know that the vixen now works for Nels Pederson Co. out of Badger, IA. Some guys just want women to share their feelings and dreams, and some women don't like to do that early in a relationship. Most decidedly not. He expected much more out of her than she was willing to give on a first date - or second, or third, or fourth,...
I've probably said too much already...
Heads up @BoxsterCy and the rest of the MSP crew. Doc is heading up there for the weekend.
