Well the 4 murders were in West DSM. The drive-bys were DSM and there were no fatalities.

Historically, Des Moines murders per year were single digits. Last few yrs, it has spiked.

The murder-suicide in WDSM on Saturday is devastating. I know those kids and they are the nicest, most polite kids it's heartbreaking. The mom was quiet but kind. Just awful.

There was other family (relatives) living in the house at the time. I thought maybe it was an inter-family conflict.

These stories always so sad....when someone for whatever reason takes their own life, but on top of that takes out others (their own kids) :-/

I remember this story out of the Iowa City area and it had a similar initial vibe: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/bank-crimes-drove-iowa-man-to-slay-family/ (but he had a crime, so i guess that made sense his world was changing)...but again, just go out on your own.
