They decided to jackhammer and replace the pavement around the sewer manhole in front of my house this morning. Was a window rattler.

"She can dance all night and shake the paint of the wall."
Thank goodness for google. Having the song in my head all day would have been ok but trying to remember the band would have driven me nuts.

While it may not be front and center

The crazy thing is that while the Allied forces were staging the largest amphibious landing in history in Normandy, they had another amphibious force 71,000 men strong en route to Saipan for another amphibious assault.

Interesting article in today's "Now I Know!" that author Dan Lewis originally wrote in 2012. Some of these behind the scenes stories from war time are just amazing, especially in light of how many ways there are to leak "information" today.

I am having a hard time explaining the strength of my inner sloth today. It's nice and sunny out.

Invited friends over this evening. Must clean and straighten up some. I really don't want anyone to see how my place usually looks.

I had NEVER heard about that practice run before! Oddly enough, I took the D-day facts quiz at the end and somehow managed 16/19. I think that's because of all the WWII movies I've watched! :D

Not exactly sure.
Uncle earned Purple Hearts at Omaha beach and the Bulge. Never said anything until I stopped by one day while he was dying of cancer. Decided that he would talk then and to me for some reason.

Hope you find someplace to stash all the empty wine bottles.

Solved. Combines Boxster's LA background with his love for the fruit of the vine.

I hope that image didn't give you a stressed induced coronary, Boxster.

Gonna take the afternoon off. Rockbrook camera is doing an Urban Photography class this afternoon that I decided to take. I figure I own the camera, I should learn better how to use it. It's in conjunction with Sigma so they will have different lenses for us to play with.

Peter Gabriel:
"I wanna be.....your sledgehammer"

I’m more a fan of:

“Stop.........Hammer time!!!”

Btw, since songs are in the roll today. Saw a taller girl filling up with fuel today and this opening line hit.

“6’1” and lonely, dressed in spaghetti rags”

That’s actually two lines. Figured I’d make it easy on people.

They are in the recycling. It's the wine corks I don't throw away that are the issue.

Anyone got a crafts project they could use a bunch of wine corks for?

Here's my favorite, here locally to;

There has to be some crumple zone cushioning value in those corks in an accident. This is a safety improvement to this vehicle.

I got into one of these style cars (sans corks) at an event. It certainly is a unique design...

Great move IMHO. It's taken me doing all of these bird walkabouts to finally get into more of the digital SLR camera functions. I still miss the simplicity of my old Minolta with it's "needle chase" in viewfinder metering. Still the easiest for me to balance out aperture vs shutter speed and was easy to stop up or down.

You can't slam both doors shut at the same time, unless you want to smash your head.

When they had Cars n Coffee out at the at Chanhassen Autoplex* one of the garage owners had a whole collection of BMW Isettas including the corked one. I get that the event outgrew that locations ability to support it but miss seeing these open garages on those Saturdays. Some were like mini museums and car shines.

* Bunch of car condos for rich guys or car nuts. Some are like quad size garages and some ware three or four times that big.

Here's the BMW guys modest garage:
