B/R Live

(As much as I want to watch this thing live, I can't justify shelling out $60 for it. I'm going to try and follow along via Cageside Seats or something)

Article with card for Double or Nothing, not many of those names are familiar to me. Would love if CM Punk came back to wrestling for this promotion. Article also states AEW will be airing weekly on TNT in the Fall.

Check out Road to Double or Nothing and the last couple months or so of Being the Elite on YouTube. It took a long time but Being the Elite was definitely worth me starting from the beginning and getting caught up on. Seeing what those guys have done with just 10-20 minute YouTube episodes shot with their phones makes me very excited to see what kind of show they will put on with TNT. Double or Nothing should be a very good show but I agree with @jdoggivjc that $50 is too damn much. They better get a monthly thing similar to the WWE network figured out soon because people aren't going to pay big PPV prices when pretty much everything is affordable monthly payments these days.

Holding out hope this is just a work whether it be short term and the match actually happens on Saturday or long term and they build up to a match a ways down the road. Not hopeful since they had them go at it in England. Too bad because the story line has been good and the match was going to be fire.

WWE's new title is the "24/7 Title". It went over like a fart in church. Foley is getting booed. Would have been nicer to have the Hardcore title back (but, as I said, that's not happening in the PG era).

Are they trying to kill ratings?

I don't think they're trying to kill ratings, but they're in such desperation mode at the moment, between dwindling ratings heading into brand new TV deals and with AEW coming online (WWE may like to pretend they don't feel threatened, but their actions prove otherwise), that they're willing to throw every single piece of poo around just to see what sticks - and it's hurting more than it's helping.

It's as if telling good stories and building compelling characters is far too difficult, so they'll try every gimmick possible to continue to try to get "the brand" over - wildcard rule, 24/7 title, you name it.

24/7 title aka the mid card title.

Isn't the 'wildcard" rule sort of an admission that they're in trouble?

It's an admission that either they don't know how to build new stars or have no interest in doing so, so instead they're going to use their chosen few and the ones that move the needle the most on both brands (and they're going to wear out their welcome in the process by overexposure).

Downloaded this app for my phone called Pluto Tv and they have a TNA channel that airs on PPV's and classic matches. Was watching some today and for all of TNA's faults they had quite a bit of star power in their roster. Mix that with the financial backing that AEW has and man that would of been something to see. One match i watched today featured Mr Anderson aka Mr Kennedy in WWE and brought back fond memories. One of the few post attitude era guys that had some charisma.

Double or Nothing preshow on now. Casino Battle Royale just finished up and Hangman Page won for a shot at the first AEW champ. Fun battle royal for the most part. Some clunky spots and iffy camera work here and there but still pretty good overall.

Kip Sabian beats Sammy Guevara in the first singles match in AEW history. Dropped the $50 for this event, I hope it delivers.

Kip Sabian picks up the win over Sammy Guevara. Guevara missed on a couple spots but nailed a running shooting star press off the apron onto Sabian who was draped over the rail on the outside. Both guys were clearly very athletic but Guevara showed crazy potential.

good to hear JR's voice calling matches again. Nobody comes close to touching him as a match caller.

Historically that’s true, but he wasn’t good when he did New Japan shows recently. Excalibur should carry the load tonight as he’s the best of the three right now.
