I read the books and for the most part I thought they did an awesome job.

It was 10x greater than I ever imagined. When HBO started filming I told people I just hoped they’d make it through the Battle of the Wall and the Red Wedding. A storm of swords is easily one of the best books I’ve ever read.

They far surpassed my expectations.

Old rules vs the new. He could not be Lord via inheritance because 3ER but he can be King via democratic vote.

I would disagree that has anything to do with it. Take you back to last season:

Bran: I'm the Three-Eyed Raven
Sam: Oh... I don't know what that means.

I doubt there are any rules on the Three-Eyed Raven being a Lord because I doubt many people in the Kingdoms have any idea what a Three-Eyed Raven is. It's a concept that has to do with the "old gods" and weirwoods, and most of the Kingdom is loyal to the seven gods. I'm guessing he was turning down being Lord of Winterfell, and the only way I can reconcile it is because he knew he was going to be king - but still, what does being the Three-Eyed Raven have to do with him being unable to be Lord of Winterfell?

Meera you the real MVP.

That remix of Dan Black’s Symphonies on the Euphoria trailer was sick.

Man, did Bran pick a terrible Hand. He made several strategic mistakes, poor judge of character, committed treason, and conspired to commit murder against his last boss.

Truth is, it is very ******* hard to provide a satisfying ending to a great drama that is built up in fans minds. Whether it is a book or TV. I’ve seen so many fan freak outs. It’s very hard.

Plus internet rage and nitpicking leads to groupthink that makes people decide they didn’t like a show that they actually enjoyed watching...

I think the list of long running popular series by and large end less than satisfying in the end. Two of my favorites, Lost and How I Met Your Mother, has very disatisfying endings. I’m honestly struggling to come up with shows I like that ended really well. I can’t even remember how 30 Rock ended, so I’m assuming I didn’t hate it? The Walking Dead did me the favor of getting unwatchable after about 4 seasons, so I didn’t have to watch it slowly suffocate.

Nah if anything Arya was almost overpowered. She single handedly slaughtered the entire Frey family (dozens of people) then killed the freaking Nights King.

I'm very well aware that arya killed alot of people but I'm talking about wearing someones face. I just cannot believe that we went the entire final season of this great series and never saw that skill again. Rather we kill cersie with rocks falling on her. Maybe the next superman movie he won't fly, he will take ubers.

Uh... clearly Bran knew the endgame. And that it wasn’t the right move to make. He was not just spouting random rules....

The dumbest part is them letting the North go. Dorne was the last to pledge so you’d think it would be the first to break. And the Iron Islands tried to fight for freedom. Given that Yara supported Dany, she should break away. The other houses are too weak, I would guess. At least for right now.

Oh. In your original post I responded to you complained she didn’t use her sneaky assassin skills other than once. I’m glad that you were able to both move the goal posts and still somehow find a way to downplay her massive contributions to the series.

Yes. It’s incredibly hard. The best series endings I’ve seen were Breaking Bad and Star Trek The Next Generation ( series, not the movies). It’s damn near impossible and gets harder every year when people find reasons not to like shows because of some dork on twitter trying to come up with an edgy take.

I told my brother before the episode tonight that I was going into it with no expectations, and that I was prepared to either enjoy it or dislike it, but even with that mindset I came away pleasantly surprised by my reaction to the ending. I liked it.

I thought Drogon was used really well in this episode; in one of the first scenes when we first see Dany after her descent into madness when he unfurls his wings right behind her so that it appears she has dragon wings was a really cool visual. I also enjoyed the symbolism of him burning down the Iron Throne; her ultimate goal for the series and the symbol of her undoing in the end. I love that she never actually sat down in the throne.

I know people like to rip on Kit Harrington's lack of acting ability, and compared to legends like Headey and Dinklage he has a long ways to go, but I thought he did really well tonight. His scene with Tyrion (when Tyrion was the prisoner) was really well done. And, I would love to see Emilia Clarke get some recognition for her work this season; I think she turned in excellent work with a difficult character.

I was not expecting to see Bran take the throne, but I'm okay with that choice. I did get a kick out of seeing Sansa put her uncle in his place during the vote. Nice to see all the old faces get back together one more time; Gendry, Ser Brienne, Yara, etc.

I think it's only appropriate that they focused on the Stark children at the end (including Jon). That brought the whole series full circle for me.

Despite the warts during the last couple of seasons, I am really going to miss this show. When you think about it, it's really one of the last "watercooler" type of TV shows we have anymore, where most of your friends and family watch it and can discuss it with them. Now, with Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc., nobody has to wait a week between episodes anymore and can watch their favorite shows at their own pace. TV shows like GoT are really a communal event when it comes to pop culture, and we just don't have those anymore.

Can you read? All i stated was that i thought it was a huge wasted opportunity to have 1 of the most popular characters in the series go through intense training and almost die learning a skill she used a couple times and 1 of them on an 80 year old man. How don't you use that this season? Unforgivable as far as I'm concerned.

Who were the two guys between Gendry and Yara at the dragon pit? You had Brienne, Davos, Gendry, two guys, Yara, Dornish Prince (I assume).
