Drew is a pretty good recruiter. He got a couple 4 and 5 stars to Vandy. I think they could do worse even though he went 0fer in conference this season. His coaching is up for debate but he'd be able to get guys to TCU.

Even if he got some players, the result was him getting fired after 2 years and zero wins in the SEC. It would be hard to sell to the fans, recruits, and boosters getting the TCU job right now IMO.
I think Bryce should take a non P6 job and rehab his career before taking a high major job, especially one like TCU which doesn't have a great history of basketball success to sell. With TxT rise it, TCU is the hardest job to sell in the Big 12. Dixon brought credibility with him to get recruits, Bryce doesn't have that right now.

Steve Alford, Mike Anderson, Bryce Drew, Eric Musselman, Avery Johnson, tons of others available that would be qualified to take the Frogs. But whoever it is, the conference reputation will take a small hit for losing Jamie Dixon.

Jamie Dixon gave great credibility to TCU and by extension the conference. To deny that is hogwash. There aren't a lot of coaches with his credentials.

If Steve Alford went to TCU there would be a percentage of fans that probably would not even notice there was a change.

They realize they are getting Ben Howland again right?

Sometime's you don't know what you had until it's gone. It is weird though given how things ended so poorly under Howland. He did have some really good teams there. Really surprising he didn't get a title there with some of the rosters he had, just ran into those great Florida teams.

Looks like a resume of a coach who hasn't done anything relevant in the sport for 8+ years.

How stupid would you have to be to get a deal in place without accounting for the current buyout on his contract? And how stupid would you have to be as TCU to lower it a dime? I suppose the current untenable situation probably does put some pressure on TCU to just fold a bit, but what a freaking mess.

Not exactly sure.
And I'm sure that recruiting for TCU is going well right now.

Recruit: "Hey, aren't you the coach that is going to UCLA?"
Dixon: "I'm the TCU head coach. Hey, do you want some tickets to Disneyworld?"

Disneyworld is in Orlando. Is Dixon trying to get to UCF also? :)

I remember Ku fans several years back saying their lack of success in the NCAA was directly due to their lack of B12 competition. I also have long thought that Gonzaga's issues are in some large part due to their lack of conference competition. Nothing prepares teams for the dance like a tough league. Last year 3 of the E8 were B12. Last year was the strongest league top to bottom perhaps ever.

Gonzaga was just in the national championship game 2 years ago.
