Lot of excitement in Lubbock tonight over this game. Not one single thing mentioned about it on Red Raider forum. Last post was about their moral victory over Texas.

Tonight was the worse reception I've ever got from CYTV. Usually very good for me. Wasn't worth it tonight.

Yah, I had bad reception after halftime, glad it was a rout and not a close game because I missed most of the 2nd half. :(

We played awesome. The only gripe is that our bench players in the last 6 minutes of the game averaged over 1 turnover a minute - quite sloppy. BUT that is nitpicking - love how this team is playing this year - SO FUN TO WATCH!!!

Got home from work late and had to make supper, so all I saw was the final 9 minutes. The reserves were actually doing pretty well for a while, but then it turned into turnovers every time down the court.

Huh. I had no audio during pregame and intro but entire game was fine. I too, use Roku.

Tech actually seems to have a solid team despite what tonight's score shows, just not on our level right now.

So, having watched the Lady Cyclones for 30+ years, I can't recall a time when we were beating half the conference by 30+ points a game (at home)...either the league is way down or the ladies are really great this year. We just have so many weapons, both inside and out.

Wow you get Dee Canter to ref. That's big-time !!!

This was the first time she's been in Hilton this year, I believe. But she's usually here several times a season and has been for what seems like centuries (it's really only been decades!).

Fun side story about Kantner: when Rutgers and Iowa State played in the NCAA tournament 2nd round down in Des Moines, Kantner was completely oblivious to Rutgers center Kia Vaughn shuffling her feet and jumping around EVERY time she touched the ball. My seat was in the 4th row and during every Rutgers possession when Vaughn touched the ball, I started yelling "Travel!-Travel!-Travel!" at Kantner when she would be on my side of the court. She ignored me (and the traveling) until I said something that got her attention - I swear it wasn't rude or anything, though I don't recall exactly WHAT it was. She shot me a death glare from the floor as she trotted past after ignoring yet another travel by Vaughn. So I shot one right back. A few minutes later, Kantner called a travel on Vaughn. Cue the sarcastic clap and "thank you!" Needless to say, I didn't make friends with the Rutgers fans sitting immediately to my left. o_O A photo of me yelling at her appeared in the Des Moines Register online the next day, so apparently I was loud enough to get a photographer's attention also.

As for the game, it was a lot of fun. SO good to see Maddie get back on track after being held scoreless the past couple games. The best play of note was the pass to Ines in the paint who quickly (and effortlessly) flicked it back out to a wide open Maddie in the corner who nailed the 3. Rae's desperation shot to beat the expiring clock that didn't touch iron was pretty cool, too.

Bridget is now #4 in career scoring at ISU. She's less than 200 points away from 2000. The team is currently sitting at 192 three pointers made on the season, just 8 away from continuing the streak of making at LEAST 200 every year since the 2003-04 season. RPI holding steady at 11 (RealTime) and 12 (WarrenNolan). Got a big game at Manhattan on Saturday. Who knows which mildcat team will show up to play at the Octagon of Dumb - the one that blasted Texas by 18 or the one that lost to Kansas by 7 (their only league win so far)?

Both. We are pretty good (at times VERY good) but the league is weak tea this year. Nine games left and only two are possible "good" wins. Seven are against teams not even receiving votes. Would be nice to get all seven of those as wins. Would be awesome to win the weak seven and maybe steal one from Texas or Baylor.

We've bombed in 100+ three times in league play but also only averaging 65 and are 0-3 against the three teams with the best defense. In spite of bombing KSU at Hilton this could be a challenging game Saturday. Toss out that 96 we scored on them and KSU is only giving up 65 per game in conference play. However they only scored 30 freaking points in their last game so they are really part of the "down" seven.

It's been a long time since I remember us playing with this much confidence, especially offensively. The defense has been quite solid as well.

Honestly, starting Scott has made a big difference in this team in how they start games. This team has gone up a notch with her starting setting the tone early. Also, Alexa is getting better every game, starting to show her true potential. The main weakness I see is scoring from our bench. We really don't have a "hot hand" that can give us a spark if we are flat. I know Camber has a beautiful stroke and is a pretty good slasher, she needs to find her confidence again. Mere and Ines have moments, but aren't consistent.

All-in-all, this team has more potential to do damage in the tourney since the Freeze/Welle years. If they can finish strong, and get a 3 seed, I would be over the moon. The top tier of wbb is more reachable this year than ever. We need to beat Texas in Austin or Baylor at home to get there though. Likely, we will get another chance at one of them, or both of them in the Big 12 tourney too.

If we got a three seed I'd be over the moon. Def attainable, but what a change that would be!

Bridget Carlton is the absolute key, and to a lesser extent Middleton...their ability to penetrate and either continue to the hoop or kick out to the open three is light years ahead of the one dimensional nobody moves offense of last year. And, even some of the other players are able to penetrate and kick out...there are so many combo's that the team takes advantage of.

The main weakness is strong rebounding in the paint...teams with athletic bigs real eat us up. Thankfully we are starting to counter that, but it will remain the Achilles of this team at least this year.

In order to accomplish the above, I consider every remaining game a must win with the exception of TX, WV & BU. And of these three you need to sneak out two wins. WV at home is a great opportunity. And honestly, TX played their best game of the year when they came to Ames. They are very beatable as has been proven in their 4 losses and many close wins. They have barely eked by several teams that will never sniff the top 25 this year.

Wrecked Tech. Students were there for the space jam hats. The drive home when the heater fan quit was chilly.
