I'm actually surprised at the results on this. I thought it would turn out something like 75/25 in favor of gas. All my neighbors have gas grills it seems like, I haven't seen anyone within a block or so that I can see has charcoal.
I'm not, the question was which method do you prefer which almost everyone perfers the taste of charcoal. I'd be surprised with these results if the poll was which grilling method do you most commonly use.

Different tool for a different job. I typically use the gas grill for short cooks. And charcoal for longers.

It's mainly because my gasser is on my elevated deck right off the kitchen. And my charcoal ones on down on ground level and have to be drug out and set up.

I do prefer the Performer over the regular kettle. The gas assist is way easier, especially if you have a chimney starter.

An electric heat gun and a fan? I'm not saying that's a lot of work, I just think if I had to do that during the weeknights and still do coal stacking and cleanup, I would use the gas grill.

It is a little bit of a process, but the power is real close, and I don't spend too much time with the charcoal stacking. Dump into a pile and go. During favorable weather (basically March through early - mid November, we grill on the Weber quite a bit. Probably go through 12-15 bags of charcoal (16lb bags) per season - some of which is partially due to my method for cooking. If I am not in any hurry, I will just use the chimney starter, pop a couple of cold ones, and wait.

if they were using charcoal, you’d smell the difference!

I get the convenience of a gas grille, but far prefer the flavor of charcoal. And, I’ve got the time, so it’s worth the wait. I also use the Weber as a smoker, and you can’t do that on a gas grille

We grill 3-4 days per week regardless of the weather, so gas. Charcoal taste is great which we do in the summer, but normally do not have the time. We use different marinades and rubs which make the difference for us.

My main gripe with the gas grill is it never seems to be hot enough to properly sear a steak.

I voted for other because I love my pellet grill. Get smoke and grill in one. I usually smoke for a while and finish it off on higher heat setting to grill it. My wife and I both agree that our Traeger has been one of the best investments we made!

Gas. I live in a Condo/Townhouse so it's messy if I don't use gas. It's just sooo much easier, no clean up and it's not like it's a huge difference in taste when eating most of the stuff.

Got rid of our gas grill and went to a Weber 22", pairs well with my Weber Smokey Mountain. The wife liked the ease of use on the gas grill, and the speed as well, but I get home at 5, while she gets the kids and doesn't get home til 5:30. I can have the charcoal going, meat set out, and beer in hand by the time they get home. Plus, the kids want to play outside when it is nice, so we don't usually rush supper.

Still cook on it in the winter too. Smoked a pork butt on it two weekends ago (on the grill, not the smoker) with two apple wood chunks. Worked flawlessly.
