The Athletic’s take: ISU has more talent than KU

  • After Iowa State won the Big 12, a Cyclone made a wonderful offer to We Will that now increases our match. Now all gifts up to $400,000 between now and the Final 4 will be matched. Please consider giving at We Will Collective.

Yes. Top to bottom may be the most talent on a team ever at ISU. Not saying they are the best players of all time, or even the best team, but man 1-11 I'm not sure we've ever had this many Big XII caliber players

That’s definitely what my eyes told me yesterday.

The disparity certainly wasn't that apparent.

Sustainability and limiting bad losses are what separates KU from the other teams.

Iirc the last Fred team was right there but the Tech and Baylor Hilton losses were the difference.

I think D. Lawson was probably the most talented yesterday. But I think ISU was as good or better 2-13. Especially the bench players, KU does not have much depth, somehow.

This team is loaded and if they stay healthy I think they will be right there for a regular season Big 12 title. That being said, not sure I'd say they have more raw talent than the 2014/2015 team (yet).

That's 6 guys who have played in the NBA and Thomas playing at a very high level in Spain.

Looking at the 5 guys we have in the league or 2 way contract it's easy to forget BDJ was getting some pretty serious minutes before his death.

I could be wrong but fairly certain Hogue is still in Spain as well. Dont forget Custer was MVC player of the year and has a final four under his belt. Glad it worked out for him always liked Clayton.

Could be a team other than Kansas as conference champions this season and there could be a new trophy in the case in Ames.

The thing about KU is they aren’t as talented as they usually are, and they also aren’t as experienced. Especially when it comes to experience in the KU program. Vick is fine but definitely doesn’t seem like Self’s favorite senior by any means.
