CMC keeps almost all 'issues' in house. Wish he would have done the same here and make any change to the turf he wants next summer. Excuses are for losers and embarrassed winners.

Honestly, it wasn't as bad as this made it seem. I listened to his post game radio and the press conference. He mentioned the field, but he wasn't all that worked up about it.

Obviously because it has been said on here that he isn't a fan, but he wasn't complaining about it that much.

It really is t better for injuries anymore. The new turf fields have more give than natural turf. I like natural too but the expense of a crew of 10 to up keep it plus the advances of turf field make it a no Brainer imo. The field shouldn’t be a deciding issue and old Isu needed the field condition nuetrizer in games like today against better opponents but now it is more likely to hurt us. Go turf.

You realize a new fake turf field still requires people to manage it right?

I’m not even going to pretend I’m an expert on the subject. I’m not. Not even close. But isn’t the comparison the to Packers apples and oranges? They play home games potentially into late January. We play home games potentially into late November. Isn’t ground freeze vastly different in those two time periods?

Didn't Drake also play on the field, or were they playing on turf on offense. If we had an offensive line that could run block, it wouldn't have been close.
I will say it again, not what this post is about, but I guess, no one reads the original post.

Why do some people keep repeating this, without understanding that the field conditions removed many of the advantages a team like ours does vs a team like theirs?

Our o-line certainly has its issues as well, but drake doesnt beat the spread by nearly 40 just because of the line.

Who compared it to the Packers? I asked if we upgraded the systems some, and changed to the style of natural grass they have? Not a comparison, like I don't see us putting grow lights over the entire field until January, I don't see us putting heat blowers under a tarp whenever it snows to keep snow off it, I doubt we put heating systems under it. I was suggesting adding updated irrigation and drainage and the natural grass with the synthetic fiber tie system, etc.
I know we are not going to upgrade to NFL standards, I have said previously in this post that as far as I know the only college stadium that has a heating system in the field is U of Minnesota and that is only because the Vikings paid for it when they played there during their stadium build. The U of M stadium was not originally built that way.
I guess I should not have asked this question because no one reads the original post, then continues to not read the followups as well. Frustrating.

It’s been posted a couple of times in here and extensively in the other field thread.

Seemed fine vs. West Virginia.

Which is one of the reasons I would like them to keep it. ISU may be more athletic than Drake, but they are certainly not the most athletic team in the Big 12, and the grass probably does help the Clones some games.

I guess that other thread I thought was more, is it time to go to turf, maybe this one was too similar. Was not trying to be, It was more that now that it has been several weeks with poor conditions, and multiple comments from CMC etc, mentioning poor conditions, will we be moving to turf. And if anyone else is hearing anything or if anyone else is hearing those comments the same from CMC. And if so would we go to turf if he so chose. Not what anyone or everyone wanted. Then I asked since it was mentioned we are past due for a redo on the field what that would entail. If it would be just a resod/seed or some substructure work. and if we would upgrade to some new tech "LIKE" Lambeau? As in drainage/irrigation, grass with synthetic fibers for strength and stability etc.
But everyone has went of the rails, by just me asking and has not even come close to staying on topic. But I guess It is what it is.

Why are you getting so uptight about it?

What's the advantage of having grass? In two threads I haven't really heard any, other than bragging rights. Injuries? I know that was the case when turf was new, but is their research that still says that?

I do know the playing surface has gone from subpar to 100% unacceptable in the last 5 weeks. Forget the adv/disadv when it comes to football, that was just dangerous for the players.

Careful what you wish for. I shudder to think what Drake’s QB would have done to us on field turf.

Seriously though, I will be saddened if we move to turf but I’m not going to fight it. How about Campbell sign an extension with buyout increase in exchange for it?

If they get synthetic turf, just hope that when it snows, they dont set the snow sweepers too low.

I think its kind of silly, but if Campbell wants it changed then by all means change it

6 pages on the grass because ISU barely beat Drake. You guys have some serious soul searching to do with this team. They won 8 games, will probably finish top 25, be happy.
