Official Bowl Watch thread

West Virginia blogger thinks they'll get selected over us, unless Camping picks Syracuse and needs our fans to fill their stadium. Cuse has a reputation of not travelling I guess.

Checking out blogs of other teams we might get matched up with. NC State is the only one I found talking about possible bowls. Reading their comment section shows how little teams outside of the big 12 know about us. Even the guy in the know called Purdy our back up and he did well in september when filling in for Kempt. lol They all seem to think we'd be an easy win.
 
Apparently the people that run the two Orlando bowls are thinking about picking Iowa and Iowa State.

I hate the idea. I love our fans taking over a city. I don’t want to run into a bunch of hawk fans on vacation.

The worst thing about a possible Iowa and Iowa State to Orlando situation is that the airlines and hotels will be able to name their price...

Sorry if discussed earlier, but Grier being non-committal about playing in a bowl has to be a big factor in the selection.

Yeah, I think West Virginia is flattering themselves if they think it’s obvious that the Alamo would pick them over us.

Either UCF or Texas would be #4. This goes to show that ISU would have had a chance at #4 if we had beaten Texas.

Points per possession seems like it would be the more valid metric of a defense. Yards don't matter if you can move 50 yards but the defense always buckles down and prevents the score.

But either way, the fact that OSU is giving up almost as many yards per play against the garbage offenses in the big 10 compared to the high-powered offenses in the big 12 says that OSU's defense isn't better than OU's.

YES. Yds per play is this years talking head fap stat that they go to when they want to pat themselves on the back for being so itk.

Should be looking at yards per drive. Per play makes it look like Army’s Offense sucked in Norman which is laughable

After that it’s probably the following pecking order

OU
Ohio State
SEC Loser
UCF
Maybe a remote chance of Michigan, Wazzu, or PAC Champ if SEC loser gets blown out and the other 3 all lose. Texas has about as good of a chance at this level but it’s minuscule. This is where an ISU that won out would hypothetically fall.
 
If OU is ahead of tOSU in tonight's ranking, and then they both win this weekend.... then how in the world could they have tOSU jump OU in next week's rankings? OU would have just beaten Texas which is a much better win than tOSU beating NW.

But then some are saying that if tOSU puts a huge beat down on NW and OU only barely beats Texas, then that's all it will take. Really? But the CFP committee says it doesn't look at style points, so if they did have tOSU jump OU in that scenario they are definitely looking at style points.

They don't call it style points. I think the term is "Pass the eye test."

When one team beats the other by 50, those are style points.

tOSU can, and will, if they have the chance, beat NW by 50. NW is not that good.

OU likely will not be able to do that to Texas because Texas>>>>>NW.

So tOSU beating up on another average B1G team will get them in somehow. Just dumb.

No, it won’t. OU avenging their only loss to a higher ranked, blue blood will not get OU jumped.
