Compare the shot charts...

View attachment 60221
SDSU was all over the place.

We had a few mid-range jumpers in the flat, which are not the worst shots in the world, but 90%+ of our shots were threes or point blank range. Terrific!

Point blank being something that often goes in, draws a foul, or gives a chance for an offensive board. I know that THT and Shayok uncorked a few times without looking for a good shot first, but they are at least shooting from good spots on the court.

This team is not flawless, but that is the shot chart of a disciplined offense.

That one questionable mid range shot was THTs 18-ft turnaround step back on the left wing. I didn’t realize that was really our only mid-range miss.

I will have to review the games this week and I think the last two were really good offensively. I don’t think he was effective the first three years though. I still think we underachieved his first two years. As historically good as they were I think they should have been better.

I think to an extent he has struggled with gifted offensive players and relied to much on go make a play. Some of it is also the comparison to Freds out of bounds plays.

I totally want him to succeed and I’m finally starting to fully buy in after this week but Fred put us on a level where we should expect the tournament every year with an occasional miss. Yeah he didn’t leave a balanced class roster but some people are still to critical of where we are as a program IMO.

You have no idea what you are talking about

Talen was awesome against Illinois...

TS% = 76.1

He clearly was better than Ayo. Gee, maybe the best players in Illinois should consider Iowa State more, instead of being a catfish in the Little 14 like that. :p

But he quietly had an awful day against San Diego State...

Yeesh. He was 1-11 from the field and 2-3 from the line.

Nice shot chart there, LeBrick.

OUT
OF
GAS

I think the players were so hyped for the Arizona game that they did run out of gas. That is not a knock on Prohm at all. There was nothing he could do. Those of you who are better athletes than I am know that feeling being so pumped and ready for a game, or a race, that you literally wear yourself out.

The way they played in the other two games shows that these players are in excellent condition.

Sorry to be so serious on the reply to your post

Wut? Can someone translate?

You seem to be critical of where Prohm has the program but believe some people are too critical of where we are as a program?

You seem to want the program at a level where we can expect to be in the tourney each year with an occasional miss - yet we are in the tourney every year with one miss?

Does your head hurt?
People have acted like missing the tournament this year and next year would not even have Prohm on the hot seat. If we miss the tournament this year that will be a disaster. Just look at how we’ve played so far. We are missing a third of our team and are still playing really well. Talent wise we shouldn’t be near the bubble. If we continue to play well we won’t have issues.

Basically my point was there are two groups who are full of themselves. Prohm isn’t a hall of fame coach and he isn’t an idiot. We should judge him by the results and not jump on the opposite extremes based on whether we win.

Where was all this hate when they beat Kansas? Get a grip.
That is a perfect example. Every team gets up for KU. This team has talent for sure but lack of fire on a lot of games. They got out efforted on last 2 games. A trend that has happened with prohm.

You can’t always say the problem with effort falls on the coaches. If the players don’t have that killer mentality and focus then it isn’t always the coaches fault. There’s a reason analysts always rave about Prohm; because he’s a good coach. The players seem to stop trying towards the end. If this team can give anywhere near the same effort they did against Kansas, we would have beat Baylor and K-State by double digits. The season isn’t over, but these two losses mean we need to win two big road games and hopefully this team starts with one in Lubbock this week. Win in Lubbock and beat a squad like Oklahoma on the road and it makes up for these two losses that we should have won.

Stop trying? That's ridiculous. It's a lack of execution. No idea what happened on the game winner, but clearly we were shading on the outside shooters too much to help protect the basket effectively.

I was mad as hell after the last two games. After calming down I have to say I want to see if this team Gels and can make a run at the tourney. Its better to be hot at the end of the year instead of the start. However, we are now in Big 12 season. This team better start getting it together and Prohm better figure out the end of games. he needs to watch a bunch of end of games basketball and figure out some plays besided Wiggs jacking it up from 40 feet.

What kind of weird issues do you have to have to go dig up old threads that are positive when the team hits a rough patch? Some of the people on this site must have a hard time functioning in real life if they can't handle a couple losses for their college basketball team. Get some perspective. I'm not saying it wasn't disappointing to lose those games but there is a lot of season left.
