Interesting to see where some of the potential Big 12 expansion candidates stand. UConn ranked 1-spot higher than ISU, but 50% of their overall revenue was subsidized.

http://sports.usatoday.com/2018/06/...17-ncaa-athletic-department-revenue-database/

Total Allocated
: The sum of student fees, direct and indirect institutional support and state money allocated to the athletics department, minus certain funds the department transferred back to the school. The transfer amount cannot exceed the sum of student fees and direct institutional support that the department receives from the school. (Under NCAA reporting rules, any additional money transferred to the school cannot be considered part of the department’s annual operating revenues or expenses.)

The NCAA and others consider student fees, direct and indirect institutional support and state money “allocated,” or everything not generated by the department’s athletics functions.

Percent allocated: Percent of revenues from allocated sources.

Schools like Arizona, Maryland, and Virginia without subsidy actually generate revenue similar to ISU. UVA is operating with an unhealthy deficit in spite of theirs.

Is there a way to access the USA Today databases for prior years? I think it would be interesting to see how things are increasing over the past few years? For example, is ISU's % increase the same as the big boys, or are the big boys running away from the crowd? Basically the same info can be found through the government's EADA site, but I'm too lazy to do that right now...

Truly amazing how much more bang for the buck JP gets out of his revenue than Barta in IC. Barta should be held up to so much higher expectations than he is.

I’d like to see what the list looks like with school funds not included. We are basically at the bottom of the P5 conferences. Very misleading.

Barta is doing just fine over there, let him keep on going competency is not what we need at TOE.

Holy crap...#49 Connecticut with spends $400,000 more than us, but is allocated $42,000,000...50% of their revenue. How long can a school keep that up as costs continue to rise?

That’s an absolute scandal.

Only 2m of our 82m is school funds. What's misleading about that? We're historically the 2nd school in a small state, I would expect us to be near the bottom of the P5.

Also, why the double ticket sales from 06 to 07?

Well there are only 3 P5 schools below us. I think that qualifies as near the bottom.

Surprised ISU has that much in allocated funds (edit - just saw was student fees) - I was thinking the state was requiring ISU and Iowa be completely off these funds a few years ago.

Can't even fathom what JP could do with Iowa's revenue. I guess Barta has to use a BIG chunk of his revenue to pay off lawsuits though, so there is that.
