Terrance Ganaway - 417 Yds and 6 TD's Video Highlights

This was the 9th game of DeKalb's 2006 season. DeKalb and Clarksville faced off for the district championship as both teams came into the game with identical 7-1 overall records and 4-0 district records.

He's not very fast. He does look like he may have some potential to break tackles. That stopping stuff doesn't work at the next level unless the player has extreme quickness though.

For a major DI program, that video was just okay. I hope he ends up being a quality player though wherever he goes.

PS His team blocked really well for him by staying "on" people.

Good video. I like what I see and I don't care if he's from a small TX school. Ganaway is a carbon copy of Josh Johnson. JJ was 5'10"/190/4.55 out of HS. What are Ganaway's numbers?

Saw JJ play twice his senior year at Ponca City HS. Both Ganaway and JJ have tree trunks for legs, low center of gravity, and have quick feet but not break-away speed. They keep their pads low so they slip a lot of tackles and can run over someone if they absolutely have to get an extra yard or two. All these things make them difficult as hell to tackle and almost impossible to get clean shot on.

Watching him reminds me of Greg Coleman during my high school days -- game breaking ability at the high school level, but doesn't have that extra "umph" that would make him a standout D-1 player. I could be wrong, though.

Ennis Haywood, former Cyclone that did a solid job for ISU, ran a 4.7 during pre-draft workouts. He also had a similar running style and always seemed to be able to get the "tough" yards in the important situations at the end of games.

Another good scenario for Ganaway if RB doesn't pan out - put 30 lbs on him and make him a LB.

He may not look fast, but that doesn't mean he can't gain yards. He seems to do a great job of finding creases in the defense. Sure it will be different at the D1 level, but if you can pick the right spots, you will gain yards.

Did anybody notice how well the QB blocks on almost every play? Interesting offensive scheme.

I'd rather have a slow guy that gets 5 ypc and bulldogs people than a really fast guy that gets me 10 or 15 yards one play and -3 the next.

Just a few thoughts on watching that video...

Impressive, yes. I agree with D UP, he doesn't look terribly fast, but he can break some tackles. There were a couple of plays where I wish he could have broken that last downfield tackle.

I think the thing that concerns me, if anything, is that all but one or two of those plays were the same play out of different formations. Backside guard pulls to hole, FB lead blocks, QB pitches then lead blocks to the hole. I'm not ragging on the guy by any means, it was an impressive display, and if you can run the same play with success you do it over and over, but I wonder how he does on other plays.

LOL....Our biggest O lineman was 219 lbs. Our line averaged 205 lbs.......less than that if you average in the TE. They did a good job tho!

In the quarterback video of ganaway, if you go the 1 minute 40 second mark, the play reminds me alot of the best play in ISU history...seneca wallace.

First off, thanks for all the info and the vids ... this is great stuff. I wish more people did this sort of thing.

There's something really interesting in all 3 videos:
Every running play he has where he is the TB is practically the same play. He gets the pitch and the quarter back dips in under neath him next to the fullback and acts as a second lead blocker. I have no idea the impact on his play at the next level and I'm certainly not going to speculate ... I'm sure GC has his hands around what makes a good tailback ... he's seen a couple of them at his past jobs!
