Herbstreit simply trolling hard. What major openings will even be out there next year. Nebraska. Who else? Tennessee? Do I think Campbell stays forever? No. Do I think Campbell leaves for a Nebraska esque caliber job right away? No. He will continue to build the program in Ames and try to cash in years down the road for a major coaching gig. My guess would be Ohio State, Notre Dame type job with his Midwest ties.

Let's be honest here. ISU having a great year but Campbell not exactly Tom Herman out there in the market right now where he is the clear fronot runner and can name his price. At least not yet...

Keeping his assistants happy is a very big deal to him

And that will sometimes mean accepting that assistants will want to move up.

McCarney and Rhoads could never capitalize after taking step 1. A big reason was that they did not do a good job of replacing assistants who were departing as a result of success. We will never be able to retain every assistant. But we must do a good job replacing them.

Iowa state has gymnastics? I’m ok with not paying high end money for olympic sports. Good work JP.

Oklahoma has turned into THE national powerhouse. SEC schools regularly fill arenas for gymnastics. It's a fun sport that Iowa State fans would support if we were national contenders. It's what we do. We would show up to a chess match if a guy had I-State on his chest.

Same thing was said about Rhoads and then everyone was pissed we did it when the bottom fell out.

You should really understand the actual contract signed before making generalizations.

As far as this goes, it’s a sad situation to think Iowa state’s fan base is so small time people are trying to ignore the realities of the big business coaching in a power 5 brings

Herbstriet should be above trolling. He just think very little of ISU and the Big 12 and doesn't think good coaches should stick around.

I get there are better jobs than ISU. I get ISU isn't a great job historically. Right now ISU is a pretty good program. Right now there are so called better jobs where the programs sucks. This is an awesome fit for ISU and CMC. Sure Tenn, Arkansas, Nebraska have some history, but right now they freaking suck and have not mattered for 20 years. Why are they so much better than ISU. Because they can pay a coach $8 Mil a year and then fire him after 3 seasons because he didn't win 10 games. There are really a handful of jobs that are great jobs in great programs.

CMC is a smart guy. JP will reward CMC and staff with decent money. Don’t sell Iowa State short. We offer a great fan base and stability. And also the opportunity to run his own program. Win 8 games plus each season and Campbell will get a statue erected. Go to one of the elite pressure cooker schools and do that you are fired.

Bill Snyder has never left K-State after taking that perennial doormat to a good program. Some coaches are about more than money. IMO Campbell is one of those coaches. Campbell could have gone to other schools when he took the Iowa State job. When you are making millions at a job you love then why would you leave for a place that will fire you on a whim for a bit more money.

Yeah, oh really....the real reason that Danny Mac and Road hard Rhoads did a bad job of replacing assistants, was that our esteemed athletic dept had NO MONEY to hire great replacements.....

Its all about who has the Most Money and the best Geography to be able to win consistently.......Look at good old KNeebaski and how they are faring in the b1g....not good...with plenty of money but being on the b1g fringe is now killing the Corn Hauling Huskers like it has Iowa State since 1892.......
