I didn't expect to be as good pitching and defensive wise this year as the Cubs were historically great last year, but I really thought the bats would be even better. That has not been true at all, tough to do much offensively when two thirds of your lineup is in a slump. Schwarber looks totally lost at this point, I don't know if they would ever consider sending him down to Iowa to get some confidence back, but he's brutal out there right now.

Cubs are tied with the White Sox for least amount of games against .500 or below teams right now at 10. However, they are 5-5 in those games. On the flip, they have played the 2nd most games against .500 or above teams at 27 (the Giants have played 28).

Looking at current division leaders...

Nats have played 13 against above .500 and 24 against below .500
Yankees have played 17 against above .500 and 18 below .500
Rockies have played 23 against above .500 and 16 below .500
Houston has played 7 against above .500 and 31 below .500
Cards have played 18 against above .500 and 18 below .500
Twins have played 15 against above .550 and 19 below .500

Im not sure if this puts anybody at ease, but it does show the Cubs have faced one of the most difficult schedules in the league so far. As everything eventually should even out across the board, the Cubs will enjoy a stretch where hopefully they can face a few bad teams, wake their bats up, and go on a little tear. I still think this team will win the Central with ease, and they are still one of the better teams in baseball.

Odd question here, especially with tonight's new-ish lineup:
Have we seen fewer lineups this year, or did Joe just seem like more of a mad scientist last year? I haven't checked to see if I'm thinking based on real info or just thinking that's the case.

I love when people start flipping out in May. Look what happens when we have some warmer weather in Chicago. The bats wake up. ALL IS WELL...
