So it has nothing to do with graduation rates or GPA. Just being in school and being eligible (which is not a very high standard, especially with all the benefits and tricks available for "student-athletes").

http://www.ncaa.org/aboutresources/research/academic-progress-rate-explained

The APR is calculated as follows:

  • Each student-athlete receiving athletically related financial aid earns one point for staying in school and one point for being academically eligible.
  • A team’s total points are divided by points possible and then multiplied by 1,000 to equal the team’s Academic Progress Rate.
  • In addition to a team’s current-year APR, its rolling four-year APR is also used to determine accountability.
Currently, teams must earn a 930 four-year average APR or a 940 average over the most recent two years to participate in NCAA championships. In 2015-16 and beyond, teams must earn a four-year APR of 930 to compete in championships.

They all leave in good standing.

I think this is it. Kentucky does a good job of keeping their guys going to class, even when they know the guys won't be back the next year. I have a feeling Calipari recruits guys he knows he can trust to do this. They probably could have gotten Ben Simmons if they really wanted to, but pretty much everyone knew he was going to bail and barely make it through the first semester.

So, I would assume that a player who leaves school after the season but before the end of the semester would count against a school's APR. Does anybody know if any of our players left school after the season without finishing the semester?

P.S. It was great to see Thomas, Morris, Burton, and Stu in their Student Athlete sashes for graduation.

So ISU men's basketball is higher than Iowa men's basketball. How can that be? I thought Franny did it "the right way"?

And I see Pollard's men's cross country team is the lowest of our programs. What gives Jamie?
