. . . His recruitment has picked up steam since last fall. He currently holds offers from Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota and South Dakota State, and the list of schools expressing interest continues to grow, currently including Nebraska, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Northwestern, Penn State, North Carolina, Oklahoma State, Notre Dame and Northwest Missouri State.

The attention has been well deserved. He attended the April 2 Nike Elite 11 quarterback competition in Chicago, testing as the highest-rated participant from the 2019 class. It was an invite-only camp that functioned similar to an NFL combine. Sixty quarterbacks attended: 45 from the 2018 class, 14 from 2019 and one from 2020.

After he attends Iowa’s spring game Friday night, he will return to Chicago Sunday for the Under Armour Football Camp.

He currently ranks as 247 Sports’ fifth-ranked pro-style quarterback in the 2019 class as a four-star recruit. QB Hit List ranks him as the No. 7 pro-style quarterback in 2019, also as a four-star recruit.

Recruiting analyst Tom Lemming, host of The Lemming Report, a high school recruiting show on CBS Sports Network, compared Duggan’s skill set to that of former Iowa and Michigan quarterback Jake Rudock, who now plays for the Detroit Lions. He invited Duggan and a few other Midwest quarterbacks from the 2019 class to the junior day in Iowa City.

“He’s got a good arm,” Lemming said. “Maybe not an overwhelming arm, but a good arm. He puts the ball on the money, and he competes very well with other guys of similar stature. He’s a competitor and a team leader. I think he’s pretty good, and I really like his film. It just comes down to putting on a little bit more weight and strength.”

The real work is just beginning for Duggan. Over the next couple of weeks, coaches from Nebraska, Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Penn State and North Carolina will visit Lewis Central and watch him work out at the school.

Unless Duggan is on a potential college choice’s campus, no coach can have direct contact with him until Sept. 1 when he’s officially a junior. Until then, coaches must speak with Jim Duggan, Max’s father and coach at L.C. . . . .
