Saw a few things on twitter this morning that he was going to be transferring, any idea if we have reached out to him or if we would be interested in him?

FYI, he has been talked about in the 2017 Transfer Thread quite a bit. There are quite a few guys that do a really good job keeping up with all of the transfers.

I hope Long ends up somewhere and he shines, I just don't know that he fits a need for us at the moment.

IMO we are only taking one sit-out guard in this class and Shayok is it. Don't think we will be interested

When he played against us, he seemed to have his own version of Hilton Magic.

Agreed. LW, McNeil, Long, Babb and now Shayok (who is sitting out) will be manning the guard spots in 2018 and Prohm is already looking at top 100 PG's to add. Not many minutes available for another guard especially one who would have to RS filling a sholly this year.
If we go with the premise that Prohm is looking for one more sit out post which he has previously mentioned I just don't see him pursuing.
For Long's career I think he'd be better off going to a program where he'd be more likely to play.

He looked like he belonged when he played us in Ames.

His numbers look like his brother's as a senior against far inferior competition, but as a sophomore. I think he could develop into a serviceable guard option with a redshirt year.

I think we clearly need to prioritize...

1. Juiston
2. immediate impact guard/wing
3. post transfer

...before we need him, though. I would have been glad to have recruited him to start as a project instead of, say, Nick Noskowiak, but I think that train might have sailed from the gate.

I remember when we were recruiting Vaughn how everyone thought that if we got the 1st 5 star stud then more would follow once they saw our guy be very successful. Well we just got a 5 star stud, we may see an influx of high end guard talent in the coming years.

He actually played pretty well against the tournament teams on their schedule this year. A bit turnover prone though.

West Virginia 14 pts 5 rbs 4 ast 8 turnovers

Iowa State 19 pts 7 rbs 4 ast 4 turnovers

Minnesota 11 pts 5 rbs 2 asts 3 turnovers

Michigan 13 pts 7 rbs 3 ast 5 turnovers

Arkansas 24 pts 7rbs 7 asts 5 turnovers

Villanova 10 pts 2 rbs 4 ast 3 turnovers

Shot 38% from 3 for the entire year

After Cyclones have been spoiled with 4 years of Monte' this board would absolutely melt down.

Funny, I just typed "3 years" and had a hard time changing it. I'm in denial!

If we lose out on some guys, I wouldn't mind having him as a project. Dude has elite quickness, but I assume he would want somewhere to get big minutes. Thats probably not here

I'm going to be intolerable to watch games with next year. I may have to just excuse myself from other people during all the games because as soon as we have 4 TO's on our PG I'm probably going to lose my &%$#.

I always understood why we didn't really recruit Nick Babb the first time around, but always wished we had. This would kind of fall into the same category.

As far as Long goes, he has always looked pretty solid when I've seen him play. And he did a good job against us and in their NCAA tournament game (which was close for a long time). I'm not entirely convinced he is a Power 5 guy, but I wouldn't bet against a Long brother.
