Aurrecoechea, a freshman from Spain, has had a huge impact on IHCC’s success the second half of the season, amassing nine double-doubles in the past 11 games, a span in which he has averaged 15.4 points and 16.0 rebounds a game. He has boosted his season averages to 9.8 points and 9.5 boards and has totaled 13 games with double figures in points and rebounds while making 57 percent of his field goal attempts.

Has it been determined if Aurrechoechea has the ability to be a 2017 recruit, or is he for sure 2018?

Not sure, but I sure hope our coaches already know.

Maybe that's why his recruitment has been so quiet. You would think if it was determined that he was 2017, you would hear more buzz from ISU and other programs.

It's probably a gray area that's being looked into.

And if they do, I'm sure a ton of other programs do too, which presents the same challenges.
Perhaps. You'll hear of guys sneaking through the cracks though, particularly ones that get their first start mid-way through the year.

That said he just crushed the back half of the year at a place like IHCC and is playing in Hutch. Even if he wasn't known before he will be soon

He may be a tad redundant with Jackson and Wigginton, but he's a dynamic player. You'd think with our Milwaukee/MU connections we'd have a chance.

Last night I watched a the tape of an Iowa Western game from earlier this season. Lake looked his height and he looked like he was athletic for a big, but he also looked like he had no feel for the game and not much of a motor. I would rather find an effort guy.
I heard we backed off on Lake because we have a similar style player in Kosongo. Who has improved and is way ahead of Lake at this point.

Thank you, Messi and LLCoolJ for all the updates.

That would be the first good news I can remember on Kasongo. I could see it, as physically Ray is Lake's equal, but I thought Lake was known as having a great motor.

He's been playing right now and I watched the first half (first game in Hutch). He was decent with 10 points but OMG that was some awful basketball. Not a lot of high D1 talent on the floor from what I saw. Earnst is his backup and did not look good with a turnover and missed layup. You can watch the second half starting soon...
