Since my brother in laws and I are attending the Big 12 Tourney once again this year, I am trying to figure out ISU best path to the 3rd place spot. If that isn't capable, I really want to see them in the 6th spot. This will put them on the opposite side of the bracket as Kansas, and I think they can take down both WVU and Baylor in KC. With that being said, here is where I have the final standings come March 4th:

1. Kansas (16 - 2)
2. West Virginia (13 - 5)
3. Iowa State (11 - 7) Defeated Baylor based on record against #1 teams.
4. Baylor (11 - 7) Lost to Iowa State based on record against #1 teams.
5. Kansas State (10 - 8)
6. Oklahoma State (8 - 10)
7. Texas Tech (7 - 11) Defeated TCU based on record against #2 teams.
8. TCU (7 - 11) Lost to Texas Tech based on record against #2 teams.
9. Texas (4 - 14)
10. Oklahoma (3 - 15)

I played with it about five times and ISU comes in fourth in almost every conceivable option I can create.

Third only seems possible if we run the table other than beating WVU on the road. Would love to see it, but a 5-1 finish does not seem likely.

40% chance we are in second place after Saturday. You need that option in the poll. :)

That being said. This is what I have.

1. Kansas (16 - 2)
2. West Virginia (12 - 6) Defeated Baylor and Iowa State based on round-robin record.
3. Baylor (12 - 6) Defeated Iowa State and lost to West Virginia based on round-robin record.
4. Iowa State (12 - 6) Lost to West Virginia and Baylor based on round-robin record.
5. TCU (9 - 9)
6. Kansas State (8 - 10)
7. Oklahoma State (7 - 11)
8. Texas Tech (6 - 12)
9. Texas (5 - 13)

I agree. Was surprised that according to the bracket generator that we're favored (by Sagarin) against everyone but WVU.

Can't see ISU finishing any higher than 4th. Lots of tough games left. Could lose all the road games and at home vs. Baylor.

I think we are looking like 4th when it's all said and done. I'd rather play TCU I think than KSU so figure out how to get TCU in 5th and KSU in 6th. :)

I agree on rather playing TCU than K State and we could contribute to that tonight. However, K State has about as "easy" of six game stretch remaining that you will see in the Big 12...

K State remaining 6:
ISU, @texas, OK State, @OU, @TCU, Texas Tech

TCU remaining 6:
OK State, @ISU, @KU, WVU, K State, @OU

I would have K State finishing 4-2 and TCU finishing 2-4.

Brodzianski (sp?) killed us, and TCU has the better PG and much better coach, so Im not sure Id rather play TCU than KSU.

---> Interesting how, in this scenario, two tiebreakers are based on head-to-head with Iowa State — and one's near the top, the other for the cellar.

You're correct, the difference in those schedules is significant.

I have TCU going 2-4, KSU 3-3 (OU beating KSU at home)

I wonder what the record number of wins the 10th place team has ever had in a power 5 conference. OU has 3 and UT has 4. Seems like that would be awfully rare.

Those Texas and Oklahoma road games wont be easy for them. They arent any better than us and we lost down there and took double overtime to beat Oklahoma. K-State needs a 4-2 finish to even get above .500.
