The 5 second count doesn't start until West Virginia picks up the ball, which was at about 34 i think

So they could just stand there and let 10, 12, 15 secs run off before picking up the ball if they want to? I'm assuming the 10 second clock to get it across halfcourt doesn't start either if the 5 second clock to get the ball in doesn't start either, right?

I only caught the last few minutes...much higher scoring.

Saw some rather porus defense on WV's last couple of baskets but perhaps that wasn't typical of the half.

I'm not a ref but seems it is ref decision when they start the 5 count. 10 second clock doesn't start till ball is inbounded.

I don't know if there is a set amount of time; probably referee discretion. 10 second clock starts once the ball is inbounded.

It's annoying but smart; Hines said Hoiberg teams did this a lot. Easy way to fix it is for the clock to stop under 1 minute after a made basket

5 count doesn't start till the player possess the ball behind the line. I would like to see the clock stop with 1 minute left in the 1st half. Iowa State was penalized for scoring early that possesion.
That is not true, officials can start the count if they feel the other team is delaying too much, you will see the refs put ball down and start counting.

That was really smart of West Virginia to wait to inbound the ball at the end there. I've always wondered why more teams don't do that in that situation

I thought the clock stopped when the ball goes through the net during the last two minutes of a half. Maybe just the second half.

Good half by the Cyclones. I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see Huggy Bear pull back the full court press and try something 3/4 court as I thought the Cyclones handled it extremely well and actually hurt WVU quite a bit in the last 12 minutes.

Good job by Prohm of using Nick Babb as a press breaker in much the same way that Fred and he used Georges the last few years. Bad breaks with the banked in three's. Would like to see the Clones force the catch in the "triangle" closer to the 3 point line rather than the free throw line. Too easy for an entry pass if our guys get pinned.

Not sure about the 2nd half, but definitely doesn't happen in the first half. I know the NBA does this

I don't want to alarm anyone, but Deonte Burton has more assists right now than shots attempted.

Wow, I wonder if that's ever happened before? I doubt it.

Part of me still thinks we're better when he's not in there, but he can be so good when he's on that you have to put him out there.

Thomas needs to not disappear the second half like he has been doing lately

If the ref has the ball they certainly can put the ball down and start their count. In this situation the offensive player held the ball to keep the clock running. It should have been a delay of game call that stopped the clock until inbounded.

Burton passes up so many good looks at 3 to take a deep 2. Frustrating.
