I had the Leinenkugels one and it was way too much pumpkin spice. That was the first one I've had. Are most of them that strong?

I've never had one that I'd go out of my way to try again. Have heard the Schlafly one is decent but haven't tried it yet.

Same here. I have tried at least 10 and have not found one yet worth trying again. Love the Oktoberfest beers but pumpkin ales are not my speed.

The kind without pumpkin in it. Actually, I could probably drink a beer with pumpkin in it, but pumpkin pie spices make me gag. Nutmeg, allspice, cloves...can't do it.

Shipyard Pumpkinhead served in a cinnamon-sugar rimmed pint glass is fantastic. But I am simply not in the mood for pumpkin/Oktoberfest beers until it actually starts getting cool out. As far as I'm concerned, we are still in summer for quite a while longer.

Absolutely this. I used to live in New Hampshire for a bit and all the bars out there would do this. At home I drizzle Hershey's caramel on the glass rim and then cover the caramel with the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Excellent.

Down here in Jersey we don't get that treatment, but it is nice to look forward to when I make it up to New England in the fall.

Shock Top is the worst, followed closely by Jack-O Traveler. -1/10 and 0/10.

I loved the Shipyard, I'll be on the lookout for the leader's of this poll.

I was actually surprised by how much I liked Jack-O-Traveler. I went in thinking it would be terrible but it was pretty good IMO.

if they are stocking it I might have to go grab some Schlafy's. I got 2 six packs last year before I never saw it again.

Pumpkin beers are really hit or miss for me but when done well they're great.

Crazy, I just had the Leine's Harvest Patch Shandy last Saturday as I decided to get my mind off of the football game. I actually enjoyed it. My pallet gave me the nice Wheat Beer with a taste of pumpkin pie. To each their own I guess. But I say this thread title and dived and hoping I could vote for it.

Maybe I had a bad 6-pack or something, it didn't have much flavor and I could taste the alcohol in mine. I tried Schlafly this weekend and it was definitely good but I still think I like Shipyard better. Also got some O'Fallon and while good, not as good as the other two.

BUMP:
My wife just sent me a text. We are taking the kiddos to Anamosa Pumpkinfest tomorrow. To celebrate she just picked up 2 six packs of Schlafly. Let the weekend begin!

Elysian has nailed it with their pumpkin beers. I love pumpkin and have yet found a better one.

Elysian Night Owl is their best in my opinion, followed by the Dark-O-The-Moon. Their Punkuccino is good too, but usually one is all i can handle.
