You couldn't be more wrong. Do you remember a school that use to be in the big 12 that dominates the college football market in denver? have you been to denver recently? do you know the distance between foco to denver? There are probably as many hawkeye fans in Denver than CSU. I don't know the statics but there are a TON of non-colorado natives and while living there if I asked someone where they were from less than 10% said colorado.

Again, this is not about fan support. If it was Rutgers wouldn't be in the Big 10.

CSU and ISU are very similar universities with similar enrollments. They have access to the Denver market, we have access to the Des Moines market. Outside of us being in a Power 5 conference, what advantages do we have over CSU?

And we're not certain at this moment what the criteria are. You're right, the B1G added NYC and DC/Baltimore not RU and UMD. At the time that's what they were after.

I agree with you. But leaders from TV and conferences haven't said they aren't as worried about cord cutting because live sports are more of the exception to the rule. And if eyeballs are still the goal, CSU delivers the Denver market (even if they aren't that relevant in Denver).

I don't think CSU adds that much value to the Big 12 but IMO they add the MOST value among BYU, Cinci, Memphis, and UCONN.

Re: New teams for BIG 12

Adding in Mizzo and Texas A&M with the 10 current Big 12 teams would be the west division against the remaining 12 teams from the SEC. That super conferences would crush the big 10 in money and eyeballs. Get it done JP.

The solution I keep coming back to is:

Take Texas out of the equation. Vote um out. Force those self-serving Prima Donna ass****s to go independent so the rest of us can focus on fixing the conference.

Strongly agree with this.

That would devalue and make null our TV contract. We would not be able to get close to what get now w/o UT. OU would bolt and we'll be playing musical chairs.

Full disclosure; I personally think there is no way the Big 12 can keep up with the B1G/SEC $$$ (Which Bowlsby has stated as a goal). No solution. I think OU will not renew their GoR and this conference will cease to exist in the next ten years.

Probably. But I think it'd be worth investigating as an option. It'd be interesting to see what applications we receive if advertised as a Longhorn-less league with up to 5 spots available. Replace quality with quantity.

Agree. But didn't the WAC try a big conference an it failed?

Whether its trying to get into the B1G, Pac or ACC or some reformed Big 12 that makes more money I'm sure our AD is planning.

If Texas was out of the Big 12, the conference would basically be worthless as a Power 5 conference.

Sorry I did not see your orgininal retort before my response. Do you think Rutgers and the big ten is a success? Just because the big ten did something idiotic doesnt mean the big 12 should. What we have over CSU? I would agrue a more recongizable brand, better fan support, better facilities, a winning basketball team. Besides if were are on the wrong side of the spectrum for what brings value to a conference than why add someone that brings as much or less. We are already in its not about being on par with ISU

Get ready for all four of them. (no info here, just figured why not)

BIG XII NORTH
Cincinnati Bearcats
Memphis Tigers
Connecticut Huskies
Iowa State Cyclones
Kansas Jayhawks
Kansas State Wildcats
West Virginia Mountaineers

BIG XII SOUTH
Baylor Bears
BYU Cougars
Oklahoma Sooners
Oklahoma State Cowboys
TCU Horned Frogs
Texas Longhorns
Texas Tech Red Raiders

I would change out Colorado State with Memphis, but otherwise might not be a bad option. Also, I believe we have the trademark on the Big XIV Conference so we could go back to having a conference name that actually fits the number of members.

The Big 4 conference, eh.. did you mean XIV? Also, do we really have that trademarked?

Sorry, I wasn't singling out your specific post but rather all of the "CSU sucks at sports recently" posts as to why they shouldn't be in the B12.

And yes, I do think Rutgers has provided value to the Big 10 (specifically the B10 network) but not as much as originally thought.

I'm on the record as saying I don't think ANY of these schools would add a ton of value to the B12. But if the conference is going to expand, CSU would be towards the top of my list.
