Some similar thoughts. I think pre season Jameel thought he would be an NBA player. I remember him "working on his 3 point shot" last summer. Reality should have set in long ago. He has no offensive game and is way to skinny and weak to play in the NBA. The only way he can finish near the rim is to dunk. I like Jameel, and he can be a very effective college player and finish with a very successful career if he just plays within his capabilities. I have a hunch he is having a hard time accepting reality. When and why did things start to go wrong?
He paid his own way for a semester to come here, passing up other places who had scholarships. He was deservedly so, the Big 12 defensive player of the year last year. Seemed to put out max effort all the time.
I'm trying to think of a basketball player at ISU who did a U-turn like McKay his senior year, can't come up with one. Seems like things had already started to head downhill with the summer trip.[/QUOTE
My personal opinion but if you go back to the UAB game last year McKay seemed like he wanted to be "the man" and take the team on his shoulders and lead us. We all know how that turned out. At the beginning of the season, again, he tried to do too much and missed a lot of close to the basket shots. I think this all got in his head and then his knee started hurting. All in all, it is in his head, and his knee, now. It can't be easy either way. He seems like a very proud person and his inability to accomplish what he wants is weighing on him heavily. If Prohm can pull him back along with his teammates he can be a monster. If not we go small ball and hope one of the two freshman can stand a crash course in BXII basketball.

This was suppose to be our Final Four year. And when you make it that far, it's anyones game. Now what?
Coach CSP has to get this team pulling in the same direction. :angry6wn:
Wasn't his mom freaking out on Twitter about his playing time as well? Even after a big win?
This is all about a choice. We all wake up each day and choose to be a contributor or a contaminator. The great news with all of this is that with one choice it can all turn around. There is still time to influence how this chapter ends into something Jameel can be proud of.
I understand this is just basketball, but I see this as something that can potentially shape Jameel's future. I hope for him that this is the moment that he chooses to contribute, be a teammate, honor his commitment and honestly grow into being a man. Usually the wrong choices in life are the easy choices. Be man enough to make the right choice, no matter how hard it is. You will NEVER regret doing the right thing.
Hines and rp quoting jameel saying it was something that happened in practice. My guess is probably a verbal altercation. Someone cue the AI practice interview
Missed that, thanks. This thread is hard to sift through.Look for Jeremy's post in this thread. Pretty much explains it.
Ive mentioned a few times that certain players were fed up with a couple that don't give it their all, haven't practiced hard, and just goof around. Well, they made it clear that was not going to be tolerated anymore and McKay didn't like the change.
Team is coming together stronger. McKay has been a thorn in the locker room all year and finally lashed out by saying he's done with it. He subsequently cooled down but the damage is done. Prohm gave the suspension for missed practice and team will decide if and when he is allowed to return.
I fully expect to see a more focused team effort tomorrow.
Maybe Fred knew how to coach and handle him, also maybe he is being asked to do different things offensively and defensively this year and is having a hard time accepting.Hard to say, but the bottom line is that Fred was the main reason for him coming to Ames. Fred is gone. Maybe he feels somewhat betrayed. Maybe he is just having a personality clash with Prohm. The bottom line is he needs to realize that if he wants to have any viable future playing basketball in this country, he needs to get his **** together, man up, and finish the season on a high note without all this drama. We are a high profile team and his behavior has not gone unnoticed.
It's really sad to see this season unraveling. Prohm took the job at ISU because it's a great program with tons of potential and it's a great job. Well... I hope he isn't regretting that decision now watching one of the senior leaders of the team turn this whole thing into a train wreck. This is the kind of crap that can haunt a program for years to come. I respect the hell out of Prohm as clearly he has been fighting this garbage since he arrived in Ames.
can't read all pages...do we know what happened?
The coach is the leader and has ultimate responsibility for the team. If McKay is a problem, that should have been handled months ago, not in the middle of the conference season. A leader gets people to play for him and makes everyone better. Look at the other guys Fred brought in. Fred got them to come together as teams and they consistently got better as the year went along. This team gets worse every week.
Please stop. screw coach Roy...fricking cheating azz fraud.
He schedules games in Iowa to keep his Iowa HS pipeline relevant and keep his name in the headlines here for when another Harrison Barnes might show up in the Iowa high school ranks---so Roy can recruit him. He doesn't come back here to 'reward' Paige or Barnes.
naive thinking...sorry. Roy boy..aka Huckleberry Hound, is a shiester.
