This! I've been a Pollard fan all along but to call out a fan and make it personal is B.S. This guy has supported Cyclone athletics as a season ticket holder since long before Pollard was here. My respect for Mr. Pollard just diminished emmensely. Completely immature.

And one more over reaction.

My quick take on this:

1) Jamie shouldn't have done that. Iowa State has amazing fans - fans who are as loyal as they come. He knows and appreciates this. Jamie is better than that and my guess is that he had a weak moment.

2) I'm not defending it but trust me, I understand it. I've had some weak moments on Twitter over the years that I wish I could have back, although mine are with Hawk fans 95 percent of the time. I get it only in the sense that when you get **** on and **** on and **** on over and over and over again, sometimes you just have a weak moment and respond in a way that you shouldn't. That's happened to me and I probably get 1/4 of what he gets. I made a vow to myself about two weeks ago that I was done with that type of stuff though and so far, I think I'm doing well!

Hopefully with the backlash he's gotten from this exchange, Jamie will do the same.

I LOVE how honest JP is. It's my favorite thing about the guy. He wears his heart on his sleeve, possesses some real bite and is great for ISU. Going after fans is a bad look though.

Good take Chris. My biggest issue - he doesn't own the bus, and he doesn't pay for the bus - he just happens to be the current driver. He would do well not to forget that.

I don't think the guy was being a **** at all. The worst thing he said was "If it were up to me, this would be JP's last chance at getting it right". While not the nicest thing in the world, I don't call that being a ****. I bet if you pulled the fan base and asked "if in 5 years Campbell has only won 3-4 games each year, should JP be fired", a lot of them would say yes.

If we're still pulling in the fans/money to our football games and having moderate success in men's basketball, I am thinking that "pull" wouldn't be calling for firing anyone.

Why do people think they can be ****** bags to public figures on Social Media, but do not expect to get any crap back? If hiring a football coach was easy, then there would just be a list created, "Football Coach Hiring Guide". Just pick the top guy off the list, easy. Public figures are human just like the rest of us, and telling them on their twitter account that you would fire them if you could is unsettling to them, and their friends and families. I agree it comes with the territory, but so does getting some crap back.

Jamie is on Murph & Andy right now. Some of what he says is interesting:

"If you want to say I should be fired and that Matt's a bad hire, you're entitled to do that... [But] when you direct it right at me, I don't know why you'd be surprised when I respond."

"[We] certainly got the Hawkeye fans not talking about their 12-0 team but talking about Iowa State. We're dominating the media the last two days."

"When you tweet at me and say I should be fired, you've stepped into it."

"We want fans that don't want to be front runners. We want fans, like we've had 56,000 [at JTS], that certainly weren't front running when we won 8 games in the last 3 years."

Also comparing his use of social media to Andy Fales trolling NDSU fans, and mentions that social media moves quickly and he moved on after about 30 seconds; I think he is surprised that this tweet of his got so much attention.

Jamie is on KXNO just making himself sound ALOT worse. Definitely projecting the tweets to sound worse then they were.

And now JP doubling down on Murph and Andy. Hey JP, you're the AD at Iowa State. You can't just say whatever you want on social media and move on. Because of your stupid response you have to spend the first 5 minutes talking about it instead of your great hire.

Well, he is right, Hawk fans are starting troll threads about him on CF instead of focusing on their undefeated football team.

Again, the guy did not tweet at JP.

What people do not understand is that when you get into a conversation on Twitter, and you use the @someones user name, they will be included on every reply in the conversation. This guy did not tweet at Jamie, the person he was in a conversation with included Jamie in the conversation (as well as Prohm), and because that person did that, Jamie and Prohm were brought into the conversation.

Hasn't Jamie learned. You overreact to something insignificant. Cyclone fans will overreact to your overreaction with 100 times the intensity of your overreaction.

I've jumped into conversations before with multiple people. It takes 2 seconds to delete someones name. If you reply and the person's name is in the tweet, essentially you are tweeting at them.

JP needs to just shut his ******* mouth. Apparently he has no grasp of public image and damage control.

Yes, and that is this guys fault. However, he was responding to a conversation with someone else. He was not tweeting directly at JP.

Jamie kind of sounds like he has a separate vendetta against social media that kind of takes over his focusing on the job. Anyway, not really a big deal, just how he sounded to me on M&A.
