It's way too early to say that we're going to be bad.

Burton, Cooke, Carter, Jackson and Malou could all be better than we think or worse, we simply don't know yet.

Who's to say that Ernst or Babb won't surprise us?

We don't even know for sure if Monte will stay or go. I'd say it's pretty close to 50/50.

Prohm may tweak our style of play which makes the loss of McKay and Niang less of a problem.

Our coaches should be in much better position recruiting wise next year.

Lastly, regardless if Fred stayed, we were headed for a very questionable 2016 based on huge holes in our roster due to recruiting misses under Fred.

We still have the entire spring to land a transfer or two.
.

Well said.

I agree. Worst part is I talk to someone who I think "knows his stuff", too, and his comment was that we will be 'bad' in 2016. Don't shoot the messenger. Now, this was before Malou signed, but not sure 1 guy is going to make bad turn into good. This is just a guess, but my take on that comment was simply the young frontcourt guys coming in are untested and maybe marginal, idk. Plus tough to replace Monte. Hopefully its an over-reaction to losing this years' guys.

sounds like a Hawk fan

as for this year, our top three guards on our roster are better than Gesell or Clemmons. Naz/Monte/Cooke.

LMAO

I follow Monte on Twitter. Haven't seen anything about his pro aspirations. Is he updating his draft stock on Periscope?

Check tweets to other players talking about them stepping up next year when monte is gone. And if you watch periscope they frequently speak about George and Monte being in the NBA next year including Monte.

Agree. He's going out with McKay/Niang/Naz. But also agree with posters saying we've rehashed this enough. Is it basketball season yet???? Can't wait.

I would say he really really wants to go out with them but that doesn't mean it's happening. Hopefully he has the type of year where he can.

do you ever talk to someone who thinks anything is good? Every post you make is either telling us how bad things will be in the future or telling us not to be excited about anything. For example, whenever we sign any one you tell us they aren't as good as our current players. Well no ****.

he is quoted multiple times from multiple sources about when he takes over next year. And yes, when we signed him that's exactly what he said.

I get that might be the goal and is probably true, but there are a lot of things that can happen. I don't even want to talk about it because I don't want to be the jinx.

It doesn't matter if it's what he wants. If he isn't in a position after the season to be drafted then he isn't going to leave. Prohm isn't an idiot and Monte isn't either.

Okay, maybe he did say that when he came out of HS. But like said before, who doesn't want that as a kid coming out of HS? But I think it shows more about him that he stayed another year last year knowing and admitting he wasn't where he needed to be to compete against NBA level talent. That is more of an indicator than anything. It shows he's matured in his mindset. He could very easily have a good not great year and he isn't projected to go in either of the rounds, and then he feels pressured to stay and not test it. NOBODY will ever know until the words come out of his mouth.

right, which is why I said barring injury or disaster.

It doesn't necessarily have to be that extreme. There's a lot of pieces that go in to where you get drafted. I hope Monte blows up huge and takes us really far and leaves and goes in the first round next year but it's not the way you're making it out to be either.

If Fred or some other NBA guy says "Hey, right now you're a 2nd rounder, if you go back next year and improve here, here, and here you could play up to the first round but still be no worse than a 2nd" then I would think Monte would have to look at that pretty closely.

Yeah, I do. The same source told be McKay would be good, Burton 'will' be good, Niang/Naz best guys who embrace Cyclonenation you ever want to meet, Minn. would't get Coffey if Fred stayed, Diallo/Yakwe were here as 2015's until the glitch of GA contact, plus ultimately Fred leaving. Those are just a few. I guess I have a lot of faith in their info. But bash away.

Grant it, I did say (AFTER a poster claimed we wouldn't miss a beat in 2016) that Jackson was no Monte and Ernst/Young/Carter no Niang/McKay/Nader. I think most that follow our team would agree with that, not a startling or negative comment. Meaning, that's no reflection on them, our players our staff could get after such a late transition. Fred's 2016 would have been iffy anyway, like another poster pointed out, especially when Matt A. departed & continual NBA rumors. To each his own, I guess. I realize most of you rather read the posts claiming we have a monster class, who we will beat every game and by how much because we're so much better, etc. Those same people that bash our players/staff when they don't win a particular game, or go 15-3 in the Big12. Disagree with you....I'm very positive and supportive of our staff and team because I don't put them on this high pedestal or ridicule them when they aren't perfect. But, yes, I tend to take a more realistic, reserved approach. Peace, brother.
