Pete is unbelievable isn't he. I wonder if he stayed up all night working on his question. Coach's response was good.

I wonder if they had coaches call-in shows at Murray. I hope he's 100% signed before he listens to any archives.

Our Hy-Vee has Chinese people preparing it.

I actually grew up next door to a guy from China, who, for about 5 years managed the Chinese part of a Hy Vee in Minnesota. Trust me - it doesn't matter. No offense to Iowans, but the average one isn't very adventurous when it comes to ethnic food, even if the food isn't anything overly weird. They do what they can to sell it and they're selling you Chinese inspired, but not necessarily real Chinese dishes. They are about making money, not about being 100% true to the cuisine and obviously most people have zero idea what they're eating isn't actually Chinese food (but Chinese inspired).

No single person from China (I'm not talking about someone who moved from there when they were like 6) would walk into the Hy Vee and think they were getting authentic Chinese food.

That's obviously not the case.

Or there might be a delicate balance between coaching experience/resume and personality/style. You say it's not about T.J. but you keep bringing him up. When you are the only person with a "torch" in a crowd of a few thousand maybe you need to rethink your position.

We get it. Start a new thread if you want to discuss Chinese food.

So I like to project my thoughts onto Fred, because we're close like that. I think it's a real reason he considered leaving this year. This program is ready to take the steps toward 'blueblood' status, and he knew it wasn't going to be him, so leave the best returning team we've ever had to someone who can hopefully take the team the to the next level. That would be the thing that really cements Fred's legend.

Kind of like Miami Football in the 80s and 90s? Their first coach during that run went to the NFL right? I could live with that

When you're spending $5 on a meal do you really expect a 3 course meal or something?

To be fair if you walk into a majority of Chinese restaurants in many parts of the countries you won't get authentic Chinese dishes, but instead Americanized Chinese. I don't see why HyVee is being singled out. Sure their dishes are probably more sugary sweet than what you would get if you were going for authentic, but it still tastes good

And now I'm left wondering how we all got talking about HyVee chinese food in the Prohm press conference thread...

@GoodmanESPN: Murray State expected to hire Matt McMahon, sources told ESPN. McMahon recently left for assistant job at La Tech. Will replace Steve Prohm.

@TravisHines21: That’s one domino Prohm was waiting for in staffing. Now will any follow or stay with McMahon?

Is this the best thread derailment ever? There are now two completely different discussions taking place with no overlap and nobody from either discussion seems to be getting upset about it. Has the loss of CFH caused this little community of ours to mature?

Last post about Chinese in Hy-Vee's. Most of the people working in the Chinese department at Hy-Vee are actually Vietnamese and not Chinese.

All I said was, "Our Hy-Vee has Chinese people preparing it." :spinny:

Not even close. Last week we started a thread about Hornacek and it ended as a thread about Nazis.
