I love the fact that Hornacek hasn't said "hell no", which to me means he is saying "yes"

Admittedly, it was pulled out quotes without an indication if they were from one discussion or multiple, but to me, I took that Arizona sun article someone posted (not remembering which of 30 threads it was posted in so here, if you haven't seen it: http://arizonasports.com/41/1837890...ors-As-far-as-I-know-Im-the-coach-of-the-Suns)

as maybe just contract restructuring bluster from Jeff. I mean, the up front stuff is standard (no comment, but you know...if things happened) stuff that could indicate either way, but the part where he's kind of "well, you know, college coaches are really bumping up in salaries, and you know...you really get some time to make things happen there, it could be attractive" wink, nudge, wink...almost makes me think it's just bluster. Admittedly, that's my interpretation of what he said, but he mentioned both college salaries and length of contract as positives.

Again, that's like, just my opinion, man...but with how JP's done searches in the past, that's not how his candidates would handle themselves...and yes, I know people think this is all a done deal...but it's contractually NOT a done deal, and JP doesn't like his announcements blown ahead of time. I think he'd be in full lockdown mode like Fred is right now.

IDK, but that's the impression I got reading that.

Gonna take a nice deal to draw him to Ames given his reservations about recruiting.. But I know he thinks he should have been given extension already by the Suns, and security is not a bad thing.

Hmm..following a coach that wasn't reportedly big on recruiting and getting back the recruiter who led the charge for many years may affect his thoughts there.

Do you recall Jamie Pollards excursion a couple of weeks ago when he was spotted at the Des Moines airport and Travis Hines reported it? He was spotted at the airport at 10:30 pm that evening. There were two flights that arrived at DSM during that time. One was the Atlanta flight, the one that the divorce attorney from West Des Moines tweeted stating that he went to Atlanta to speak with a college coaching search firm. The other flight came from...Phoenix. You think perhaps JP went to Phoenix instead of Atlanta and might have already contacted Hornacek?

I actually heard that trip was checking out a potential football coach. In Florida.

You are correct, the other one was Minneapolis. I forgot about that flight. But do we know for certain JP went to Atlanta that day? I think JP has his sights on Hornacek, and I think a vast majority of Cyclone fans hope so. The hell with what the donors might think..

Minneapolis was another one, so 3 total. But it doesn't make a difference since Pollard did go to Atlanta.

I forgot that I knew someone who worked for the Suns who could possibly be a source, but she left last year. Dang.

:) That is a nice twist isn't it. I told my contact tell him we already got the recruiting covered w he just needs to come in and drive the Dodge Hellcat that will be ISU hoops next year.

Personally I think Hornacek is more suited to the college game..he's more of a teacher of the game..just how I see him. And I completely disagree CW..ISU can afford to pay a new good coach $2.5 mil+ a year. We pretty much do now. And the TV revenue from football will continue to grow. We have a AD budget of nearly $70 million a year. Double from just 6-7 years ago. We can afford to spend $1 mil. More a year than u think.

So are you on board with keeping Rhoads around for his full contract?

you don't hire a guy to run a top 10 team and top 20 program because u think u may not have the $$ to buyout your fball coach.

Pollard can hire an old boot and we still have a leg up on K-State.

Honestly, if Fred does leave, I hope this was all a huge conspriacy. Its the perfect way for Fred to leave.

Lets take the NBA out of it for a moment. Lets say Fred had to retire due to health reasons. We're all super sad, but completely understand. When finding the replacement, would us fans want Jamie to do his own thing, or would we want Jamie to get Fred's input on the replace. Fred being the brilliant basketball savant, I'd want Jamie to get Fred's input.

If my thoughts on the conspiracy are correct (and I don't truly believe its a huge conspiracy, but home that it is), then it explains every single thing that has happened. Romar could have legitimately spilled the beans. The strange recruiting things could be explained by Fred and TJ being honest with recruits and those recruits not wanting to go to Iowa State if Fred wasn't here. For the fans who think Fred should have resigned to not let his successor be behind the 8-ball recruiting, this conspiracy explains that perfectly by allowing Fred and TJ to recruit by telling the truth.

If its true, should they have said so publically? No way. The outcry would have been horrendous. Its bad enough now, but it would be worse then. Fred's family could have been hounded by crazy fans begging him to stay or crazier fans ****** off at him for leaving. In no way would being open and honest about it publically have helped anything.

Yep

Guys...I inow many people think anyone on here could coach next years team to the FF but be real. Big time game day coaching, making adjustments, game prep, scouting, running offense, substituting etc...is not something u just pick up and learn on the fly with a top 10 team vs HOF coaches. TJ would be a short lived massive mistake.
