I never quite know if it is leveraging his AD or not, but I do know that Izzo has spoken about taking on a different challenge on occasion. Most assume that would be in the NBA, but that's mostly because he's been a figurehead at MSU for so long.

Gotta get the money raised for his raises somehow. Doubt it's legit.

If we are throwing out names, a realistic candidate that seem to fit into Chris's list is LeVelle Moton from NC Central. Seemed like an awesome guy that most Cyclone fans respected after playing them a few years back. Seemed like their players liked him and he has had a few good years in a row for them. However, I still want Hoiberg here but LeVelle is a guy I have always remembered after playing them.

GFD...JFC...I just can't even.

I would so fangirl if we got Izzo.

Same here.

If you could trade Fred's potential for Izzo's resume, I think you'd call it a win.

I can't believe Doc isn't on the list. I really like TJ however it is pretty clear from the list who has not been a head coach. If this is the best we can get at least there will be tickets available for Hilton again in the near future.
I have covered this ground before but why on earth would anyone want Doc Sadler as their head coach? Just because he was on your bench for a year or so makes him a good candidate? Are the roads in Ames so complicated that you need someone that's been there before to be the next head coach? If you hate offense then hire Doc Sadler. He has no clue how to run it. His Nebraska teams were awful to watch. I watched a lot of their games because it was fun to see his defenses lock people down but seriously, awful to watch. As in scratch your eyes out with a wire brush awful. Please do not hire Doc Sadler for your head coach. I like watching Iowa State; they're a fun team. Don't ruin that.

OK. Let's put it this way. From the list that Chris Williams put out of potential candidates, (which were extremely underwhelming) I would put Archie Miller ahead of them.

My top five list (which is subject to scrubbing).

1.) Jeff Hornacek
2.) Tim Floyd
3.) Jeff Capel III
4.) Fran Franscilla
5.) Archie Miller

I am really not anti-Archie, just am leery how it would shake out at ISU..

Give Hornacek 3 mil a year and call it a day.

It's got to be him. Pay him whatever it takes.

I don't understand why you're still anti-Archie. He's a MUCH safer hire than Otz. Dayton plays in the 6th best conference, the next best thing to playing in a power conference. If Archie is a guy who doesn't seem likely to be able to make the jump (as you said a couple of days ago), then by your logic, Shaka won't be able to make the jump from VCU to Texas (exact same conferences). Shaka was a slam dunk hire and anyone will agree that it was. People want Otz to be promoted to help keep all of the recruits that Hoiberg was going after, but he can easily be retained as an assistant coach and still be able to do the same.

There is zero chance of pulling Izzo from Michigan State. The Cavs couldn't even do it. He hates recruiting so if he is ever leaving Michigan State it will be to retire or to go to the NBA.

We are only capable of working with names that we already know. Envisioning something outside of that is too much for us.
Me, too, since I'm a Hornacek advocate if this all happens, but there are reasons beyond "he was here once" for that.

Doc Sadler would be a disaster. Might as well just bring back McDermott if we're trying something like that.

He was, then someone said "LeBron is leaving".

@ChrisMWilliams: Have heard conflicting info but source told me that Jeff Hornacek is not interested in ISU job if open. I still expect ISU to reach out.

Billy Donlon of Wright State or Greg Lansing of Indiana State would be good candidates outside of the current staff.

franschilla is in broadcasting for a reason. No thanks. Floyd is pumping for a raise...no way JP hires a former coach that left.maint happening. It is mind boggling to me that no one is discussing Dwayne Stevens with mich st. Guy can recruit like no other has learned from the master at developing NCAA tourney teams for a decade and is a great player development coach. We could hire him for prob 1.5 mil too easily. Retain TJ, bring in bridges in heart beat, and have a staff that will bring in a class in 2016 like we've never seen at ISU.
