I know the staff worked extremely hard to get him and was very disappointed when he chose UNLV but I still think we came out better by getting a 4 year player like BDJ. RV would have thrived much better in Hoiberg's system but that is his mistake he will have to live with. He may have to stick around in college ball another year if he keeps up his lackluster performance.

To be fair this is kind of a false dichotomy. Had we gotten Vaughn, it doesn't mean we wouldn't have gotten BDJ. More likely it means that we either would have been too full to take Tsalmpouris or we would have also taken the Greek and gotten all three and somebody would have transferred out. Not going to speculate who.

We would not have gotten BDJ. It defies logic to think otherwise.

Am I the only one who clicked on this link expecting to see

"...has announced he plans to transfer out of UNLV at the semester break to be closer to home. Schools on the short list: Kansas, Minnesota, ISU. ISU clearly the front-runner due to past history and the chance to play for Hoiberg who has proven over and over he is the #1 destination for top level transfers."

I don't think the staff is that petty or holds a grudge so much that they'd say no, at least to chat.

I'm pretty sure that with Finals this week Fred probably has time to take your call, Rashad. Time is running out to make the switch at semester, but you could be playing for Fred by Dec 19, 2015 and improve your draft stock immensely by the 2016 draft.

He'll never play for another college team. He will go pro next year no matter what and take his chances. Time to move on.

I wanted Rashad to come to ISU. If he didn't choose the Cyclones I okay that he decided on UNLV instead of UNC, UK or KU. Basically being in the MW means he won't face ISU, rarely be on TV, not likley to be in the tourney and was probably going pro after one year anyway. I don't wish any ill will on RV and would be glad if he is a first rounder next year (vaidates the staff's eye for talent).
ISU fans have more thing to concentrate on than whay RV is doing in the desert anyway.

Unless he strings us along again only to pick Kansas in the last minute.

Vaugns numbers would be much much better here. He wasn't smart enough to see that but he's a good player. How could someone actually succeed under that Rice idiot.

The difference now is that we have all the power. We don't NEED him but we'd be stupid to say no to even chatting with him. This is all probably moot anyway but crazier things have happened.

Will be interesting to see what happens with Vaughn. Of the top 3 draft sites right now, 1 has him as late first round and the other 2 don't have him at all. 1 draft site has BDJ as early 2nd rd, the other 2 nothing. As for Niang, one has him as mid 2nd rd this year and the other 2 have him as a mid 2nd rd in 2016. Interesting.

He is not welcome back at ISU. He burned his bridge and will be stuck on his island of fire. As others mentioned he'll try pro at the end of this year regardless of how the season goes for him. What a waste.

Meh. **** him. I'm okay with Cooke, Thomas, and Long at SG next year. Vaughn can go **** himself.

So we'll give any transfer a second chance EXCEPT Vaughn. Got it. Transfer U but with an (*)

Fred talks a lot about second chances and players coming in and taking responsibility for their past troubles. I have no doubt that if he called and apologized for how he treated the coaching staff after telling them it was a done deal, Fred would take him if he felt he could help the team. I'm pretty sure he would ask Rashad to patch things up with his lead recruiter directly, though.

Keep in mind that he was a very young kid when this all went down. To make matters worse, he was a young kid who was getting very bad advice from someone he trusts - why he trusts that individual I will never understand. That is probably something else Fred would talk to him about; boundaries for his "mentor".

I agree that it is a very long shot that he will be playing anywhere but pro next year.
