Cyclone fans get jacked up for football games, because what else would there be to do in Central Iowa

Hang on, Baylor is in WACO, TEXAS, correct? Waco? Not Dallas, not Houston, not Austin. Waco?

Otherwise yes, nice article.

I thought it was a good article.....accurate on almost all counts. Never been to Waco, but guessing not much to do there either......seemed complimentary of the ISU fan base, even with the joking within....

The sidebar on the left of the article has Iowa State as the #5 toughest place to play in the Big 12. Oklahoma is #6. Lost some credibility there for me.

Oklahoma's crowds are notoriously quiet for what they are. Jack Trice can get loud. Can't wait to hear it with 10k more fans. If they can get it even remotely close to what Hilton is, I will be satisfied.

For having nothing better to do with our time, money, and emotions how is it we don't have the best team in the country by now?

If the teams behind us are worse than 4-11 at home since the start of 2012, then it would make sense.
But Oklahoma is probably a little better than that.

Hey. Baylor has only won once in Ames EVER in FB or CBB...must be a tough place to play for them.

For this kind of thing, you have to be able to separate the team's play from the equation in some ways. We have a good crowd and good gameday atmosphere, despite our lack of traditional success. We still show up and get loud.

Oh, and I live in Des Moines. There is plenty to do in Central Iowa as a whole.

Oklahoma is good at home because its OKLAHOMA. They got spanked there the last two years. Even though we don't win often, that doesn't mean it isn't hard to win here.

Briles is 0-2 in Ames as a head coach. Nice stat.

The crowd and fans are great. That part is outstanding. I'm just pointing out that it still isn't a tough place for visitors to win.

This stat would be a lot more telling if it's 0-3 on Sunday. Then we could talk about Baylor just flat out having issues in Ames.

Hey! There's even less to do now that Veisha is gone! Maybe our fan base will be able to focus that energy on supporting the football team and we'll start totally kicking butt! Yeah! NC here we come!!! :pwink:

In fairness to all town or cities everywhere. I lived in Miami, FL, Denver, CO, and Des Moines, as well as Ames, Harlan and Knoxville. Outside of food there isn't much different to do anywhere. Sure there are occasional things that you can do more of in a bigger city but not much if you actually live there. When you live somewhere you are not on vacation. You work all day and go home.

As far as a college towns, Ames is one of the best there is.
